Let’s say you successfully create a game through crowd-funding, but the launch is marred by bugs, a dearth of features, and a lack of excitement. Basically, you flubbed the release. They say you only get one chance to make a first impression, but they apparently didn’t try adding humongous mechs to their second attempt at whatever. Uber Entertainment is re-launching their planet-smashing real-time strategy game as Planetary Annihilation: Titans. It’s a standalone follow-up to Planetary Annihilation that incorporates the improvements the game received since its mediocre launch. The big new feature is the eponymous titans. They’re really big units that can crush whole armies. Beyond that, the game comes with an actual tutorial, Bounty Hunter game mode, new regular units, a revamped single player Galactic War, and maps with more terrain variety and elevations.
It’s also out right now and free to original backers of the Planetary Annihilation crowd-funding campaign. It’s on discount for people that purchased Planetary Annihilation after it launched.
Remember when early access games were the domain of digital outlets like Steam? Man, those were good times! Nordic Games is pioneering the drive into offering early access games through physically shipped disks. Amazon UK has the page up for the Nordic Games’ published retail package of Planetary Annihilation. For 39.99 in UK money, (I believe that’s a million Quatloos) you can get a physical disk shipped to you that will allow you to get into the exciting world of early access gaming.

FULLY UPDATED to the full version upon release via on-line updates
Developer Uber Entertainment and publisher Nordic Games announced their partnership for the retail release of Planetary Annihilation in December 2013. The retail packages are scheduled to ship after June 20th. Buyers may someday get a finished game.
Admit it. You thought I was going to incorporate the name of Planetary Annihilation’s spiritual ancestor, Supreme Commander, into the title! Uber Entertainment’s planet busting real-time strategy game entered beta yesterday. If you took part in the Kickstarter at the Commander level or above, or you purchased Early Access on Steam, you should already be able to download and play the beta. If the trailer didn’t get you drooling, Uber mentioned some things to come in the backer email.
“So, what’s next? We’ll continue to make your experience as best as possible. Also, Galactic War, in-game community-related features, better modding support, and a mod marketplace are all on deck.”
Planetary Annihilation is scheduled to launch in December of this year.
