As we cast back our thoughts to which games we enjoyed the most in 2025 so we can vote in the Quarterlies, new games continue to vie for our attention. I don’t know much about the Pathologic series, but from what I understand it’s well regarded. A sequel is coming this week. Spear looks like a neat action-platform puzzler that came out in May 2025 for the PC and is well regarded, and it caught my eye for the Xbox port coming this week. To my eyes, the most striking game from this week’s slate is Past Fate, an MMORPG that’s coming to early access this week and seems to go for a very bleak look and feel.

Monday (1/5/26):​

  • Dunecrawl (PC) – “DuneCrawl is an open world action-adventure game, where you take to the sandy seas atop a gigantic crustacean festooned with black powder cannons. Play as a solo Crab Keeper, or with a crew of up to three other friends in local and online coop.”

Tuesday (1/6/26):​

  • StarRupture (PC Early Access) – “StarRupture is a first-person open world base-building game with advanced combat and tons of exploration. Play alone or in a group on this sublime and ever-changing planet, extract and manage resources, create your complex industrial system and fight off hordes of alien monsters.”

Wednesday (1/7/26):​

  • Ancient Farm (PC) – “Plow, plant, water, and harvest as you build your ancient Egyptian farm from the ground up. Begin with nothing and unlock workshops, production buildings, and temples through your own hard work.”
  • Past Fate (PC Early Access) – “Past Fate is an open world MMORPG set in medieval fantasy world where the players freedom is the key element. Choose what you will become and explore the vast world and its continents for hidden secrets and mysteries. What is your fate?”
  • Fairy Tail: Dungeons (Switch) – “Fairy Tail: Dungeons is a deck-building rogue-lite featuring characters from the Fairy Tail series. Collect Magic Cards based on moves from the series to build your own unique deck and take down powerful monsters as you head for the dungeon depths!”

Thursday (01/08/26):​

  • Blasten!! (PC) – “Blasten!! is a retro side-scrolling shooter of robot-busting action! Can you master all the robot power-ups and keep forever peace?”

Friday (01/08/26):​

  • Spear (Xbox Series X/S) – “A fast-paced action-platformer where an NPC wields a makeshift spear to fight glitches, solve puzzles, and save his own game.”
  • Pathologic 3 (PC, PS5, Xbox X/S) – “In this psychological horror game, you are a doctor with only 12 days to save a town from a mysterious plague. Make ruthless decisions and diagnose with precision. Shape the town’s future and rewrite the past. Hold yourself together while it all falls apart.”
