All the Black & White news that's fit to print
The New York Times has taken a
look at Black & White.
And on those occasions when I turned on my little people in frustration,
by accident or just because I could, I felt something like guilt.
That is a new feeling to get from a game. It was as if I was 12
years old again and had committed one of the many minor sins that
my parents never heard about.
Sid and Will to team up?
How many legendary game designers does it take to screw in a Sims
lightbulb? At least two if they're Sid Meier and Will Wright. The
Sims site
has this teaser:
Sid Meier Sighted At Maxis Legendary game designer, Sid Meier
(Alpha Centauri & Civilization), has been spotted at Maxis on
a few occasions in recent months. Although the specifics are a
closely guarded secret, we can tell you that Sid and Firaxis are
working on a Sim title that is due out later this year. Look for
more details in the coming weeks.
Maybe this will start a trend. Maybe famous designers will start
teaming up. How about John Romero and Lord British doing a DaikaBritannia?
First art from Laser Squad Nemesis
Codo Games, formerly Mythos Games, has posted the concept
art for the Space Marines from the PBEM Laser Squad game they're
working on.
Now let's get all excited about this game just like we did about
Dreamland. We spotted this story on Freelancer.
The Black and the White
Our Early Hours for
Black & White is up. We certainly haven't exhausted everything
this game has to offer, but we've come to a conclusion or two. Don't
expect to read words like "embedded narrative" since we're
not writing for salon.com,
but you will find words like "dandy", "aggravating",
and "mess". Mark even whips out "sadistic wretch".
He-Man Woman Hater's Club
Read why girls don't come to Shoot
Club very often. We present a modern day Troilus and Cressida
(for those of you who don't read Shakespeare's lesser known works,
think of it as our version of the episode of Family Matters where
Urkel goes on a date).
3am
If there's one thing we learned from Black & White, it's this:
villages that are empty believe in no one. We invite you to brighten
your day and warm your heart by using this
image as inspirational wallpaper for your Windows desktop. Share
it with a friend. Send it to your mother. Learn it. Live it.
