The last Spin

Mark's last Game Spin column is up at Gamecenter on their last day of publication. Grab a hanky and head on over.

And to the Gamecenter staff and regular freelancers, good luck.

Moon Project still a go

Mere hours before the official announcement, we were able to personally confirm with GAMES Studios (nee SSI) that The Moon Project, the expansion for Earth 2150, will be shipping on schedule in spite of the financial collapse of its creators at Topware Interactive in Germany. You may not have heard it here first, but we can say we knew it here first.

Tom, who is a big Earth 2150 fan, just returned from a visit to GAMES Studios last week where he got a look at The Moon Project. Click here to read the 60 Second Preview.

Dynaverse 2 still a no-show

There's a new patch available for Starfleet Command II, but we were disappointed to see it's just a few bug fixes. There's still no sign of support for the Dynaverse campaign that's been AWOL since the game hit the shelves nearly two months ago. At least Starfleet Command I's tactical engine is preserved intact inside Taldren's ungainly and unfinished strategic wrapper.

In related news, there's also a new patch for Age of Sails II. It doesn't add Dynaverse support either.

Have a Coke and a smear campaign

Stardock Systems has released a cola market for their business-as-wargame title, The Corporate Machine. Being a cola baron is different than running the game's other markets, since the soft drink industry relies so heavily on the dynamic world of marketing. We haven't tried being Coke dealers yet, but you can read Tom's review of The Corporate Machine over at Computer Games Online.

3am

We've been getting press releases from the strategy guide publishers at Sybex about online updates for their printed strategy guides. We're not big fans of the strategy guide industry, but we're glad to see they're not above patching their products.
