Got this from the CDC (center for Disease Control) about a possible case scenario of an Anthrax attack. Pretty scary how easy it can be done.

Well, that's why you can't get Anthrax over the counter anymore.

Using biological weapons guarentees nuclear reprisal from the US (it's our official policy!), so I'm not overly worried about it.

Yeah, biological and chemical weapons are considered weapons of mass destruction and we would respond in kind. But the only weapons of mass destruction the US deploys are nukes.

Well, I admit I like Queensryche, and a little
Metallica. But Anthrax?

Now, if they *really* wanted to devastate the
nation, they'd unleash a highly coordinated
Twisted Sister/Whitesnake attack.

In the case of terrorists how else can you respond with nuclear counterattack to whom? i mean, you dont really NEED to nuke a terrorists camp... or do you mean we nuke a city for the fact of a few wimpy terrorists? aye nutty. how do we retaliate against terrorists that DO use nukes and/or bio weapons? i mean what if a timothy mcveigh type got some Anthrax in a gallon and sprayed it in every city on the west coast, and we find out its an American, do we bomb our own cities? hyperbole n all, its a possible reality... nobody expected planes to smash down two tall towers.

It can come like a thief in the nite, SBD n stuff. And you know a fart is pretty deadly sometimes... same goes for bio weps. In fact a fart is a deadly weapon sometimes!

etc

I'm going to see Anthrax on October 14th opening for Judas Priest.

Thanks mtkafka, I feel so much better. Ashcroft told Boston's mayor and Mass's governor that there might be an attack here in Boston on 9-22. I've heard rumors like they were going to poison our main water supply. I had to get up and watch tv before I had the guts to buy a cup of coffee accross the street. Of course the government is saying that the threat is totally bogus now, but everyone in town is either super paranoid (I'm guessing here since I haven't asked everybody) or leaving for the weekend. And what do I do? I turn to Q23 for some escape and here's our resident Kafka making big on anthrax. As we say in New England, "That's just supah."

Scott Ian formed a sideband in '85 called 'Stormtroopers Of Death', they made an album called 'Speak English Or Die' full of anti-middle-east songs.

Now, they might use Anthrax against us, run for the hills!

No, really, there would never be a massive chemical attack against the US, why? I said in the 'Presidential Address' thread. Mainly because of the fact that that would warrant the entire world's undiverted attention, and most likely the middle east and anyone who harbors terrorists would suddenly go poof.

Oh. Shit. Oh. Fucking. Shit.

Right after I post the above "they'll never do that" message, I find this:

http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,175951,00.html

'U.S. law enforcement officials found a manual on the operation of cropdusting equipment during a search of a suspected terrorist hideout, Time magazine reports.'

I'm moving to a bunker in Montana at this very moment.

Anthrax i never really considered a band like Slayer or Black Sabbath (actually Slayer is beyond me). They're kind of like a punk version of Danzig... or Pantera with a little more treble... but Anthrax is nothing like Poison or White Snake or Warrant. Cherry Pie... what a dumbass song!

and cropdusting Anthrax? its a possibility... truth is stranger than fiction, to that effect.

etc

Dave, that JP/Anthrax tour has been pushed back to start in January.

http://www.judaspriest.com/tour/

BTW, the opening band, Iced Earth, is an excellent power/thrash band that is finally getting their due. If you want to check out anything by them before the show, they've got a new one "Horror Show" that I'm sure they'll play some songs off of, but my fave is "Something Wicked This Way Comes" from 1998.

http://www.metal-rules.com/reviews/SearchReview.asp

put in Iced Earth to get the goods.

'or Pantera with a little more treble'

Without the immigrant-loathing, too.

Yeah, I've heard a little Iced Earth and one of the guys going to the show is super nuts about them. He claims they've never even played in the States before so it'll be pretty cool to see them.

DAMN about the shows though! I had no idea! Thanks for the heads up. I hadn't checked the website after recent world events. We've already got our tickets so I guess I'll have to see what, if anything, needs to be done there.

I dunno, Iced Earth has been around (with various members) for about 10 years, I find it hard to believe they've never toured the States at all. Certainly they've toured extensively in Europe, where I guess you can still wear a denim jacket with band patches and not get looked at funny. But I could swear they've at least done club shows within the past few years over here.

Also, I understand that since the JP/Anthrax tour is pushed back, Iced Earth is now going to be opening up for Megadeth on the latter half of their current tour. They might be coming to your area, check it out at http://www.megadeth.com/. The Megadeth website has a promotion where the fans vote for the setlist, I saw them a week or so ago and they played a ton of Peace Sells/Rust in Peace songs. Excellent show, even with the new guys they're still tight as hell.

As for your tickets, I imagine they'll be automatically honored for the new show, but it's wise to double-check with the ticket agency. I can't wait to see JP, fist in the air to Electric Eye. I wish Halford and Tipton/Downing would make nice so we could have the real Priest back, though.

Here's something I didn't know:

'Iraq admitted to the United Nations in 1995 that it loaded anthrax spores into warheads during the Gulf War.'
