Doesn't the Half-Life team have other announced games they SHOULD be working on?

I'd say Condition Zero is being released simply to make some quick cash.

Where is TF2 ?

And since Counterstrike was released does anyone really care about TF2 anymore ?

I think it's being released so they can use it as a testbed for the AI technology they're using in TF2. And they'll patch in the voice support stuff and the commander class to TFC, and the spectator stuff to all their online MODs.

So then they'll have actual in-the-field experience with the major components that will be used in TF2. It'll be a different game, but they'll have worked out the team AI glitches with CS: CZ (it's a single-player thing too, I hear), and the voice glitches and some sticking points with the commander class.

Now, now, you know Team Fortress 2 will release at the same time as Duke Nukem Forever, Prey, Dreamland and Guardians: Agents of Justice....

What? Oh, I forgot. Oh never mind. :)

I wouldn't razz 3D Realms too badly. I have a feeling they're going to blow everyone away with the Duke.

Sadly, they've put themselves in a position where they have to. Duke simply cannot be a mediocre game and especially not a mediocre seller. The more time you take, the higher and harder you fall if you fail. Expectations are a bitch. Ask John Romero.

The trailer is up in badly compressed form at CNN of all places. I was blown away by even that tiny little bit of footage.

Check Voodoo Extreme for the link.

As for expectations... considering we've seen all of 6 screenshots in the last two years, I don't think expectations could be much of anything at this point.

Valve's Gabe Newell clarified the Counter Strike single player plans, TF2, etc. There's a Blues News recap of it.

Oops, I meant this one at Blues.
