I have just purchased the LOD expansion for Diablo 2.

I assume I simply install the main game, then LOD, then the LOD V1.08 patch ?

I notice the D2Patch_108.exe is 4.8 MB's and the LOD_108.exe is 1.2 MB's.

Thanks,
Sean.

If you just install D2 and then LOD you can then connect to Battle.net and have the game automatically patched. Or download the patch. Either way.

Oh my God. I just checked out the D2 expansion at CompUSA. $35???? For an add-on pack? And Max Payne was $50!

Sigh. Guess I'll have to wait...

I have re-started Diablo 2 as an Assassin. I have to be honest I am not that impressed with this character - yet.

Any advice on what to do with Assassin upgrades ?

Yeah, dump your points into claw mastery. Avoid traps. When you get access to the skill that gives you a speed bonus, dump a few points into that. Use two claw weapons. Put one point into the passive block skill when you get access to that.

Basically, with the assassin you want to hit hard and fast. You don't even really need a finishing move, just a charge up attack. I use the one that gives me health and mana instead of extra damage.

Eventually you'll want to get the Shadow Master.

The Fade and Poison skills are a bit of a drag because you can't use them and the speed skill at the same time.

My son is running a trap assasin and from what I can tell they kick serious ass. He killed Baal in about 30 seconds first time through. I saw him preparing to go through the final portal to Baal, next thing I know Baal is dead. So don't discount traps.

I think the great thing is you can try many strategies in this game and still succeed.
