Run, don't walk, to the cartoon network and watch the premier (I'm sure Cartoon Network will run it a ton). I'm not a comics guy at all, but I saw a few reviews of it lately, and so zapped it onto Tivo. It was spectacular, lemme esplain: stylish, lush, mythic, exciting, and cool. The action scenes, which are a huge part of the show, totally rock out. I think Jack's battle against Aku's drones may rival They Live for longest melee scene. Please, do yourselves a favor and check this shit out.

Action scenes were a bit drawn out. Story is neat; execution of story is corny (talking dogs?)
I'll be adding it to my "what to watch on TV" list, but it's not way up there.

Talking dogs corny? I think that is a little harsh considering its a cartoon. And as far as the action scenes being drawn out, thats the best part!

Rob, you are right. The final fight was incredible.
On another note, was it just me or were there some surprise cameos in there? I swear I saw one of the characters from "Two Stupid Dogs." (The big one).

Why should I hold it to a different standard simply because of the medium?
I was expecting a more serious action adventure thingy, it was a little cornier than I thought it would be. I'm okay with that, it just caught me off guard.
And talking dogs aren't corny per se; it was the execution of the talking dogs that was corny. Drool, accents, tail wagging, etc.

I agree that the writers aren't half as good at humor as they are at the melodrama and combat. But maybe it'll get better.
Casting Mako as Aku was a masterstroke. I can listen to that guy talk for hours (time to fire up C the B again).
Not sure about the dog cameo. I'm not a big Toon fan other than SJ.

Throne of Darkness demo is out, and I gave it a quick whirl last night (I'm putting this post here in order to keep from opening a new topic, plus its close enough). It seemed so Diablo-esque that I would call it an expansion rather than a stand alone game. The only real problem so far is that the clicking to attack seems really unresponsive. Anyone else notice this? I was running around the enemy instead of hacking them up.

I was having the same problem. My party members did all the killing. I just ran around in circle. Perhaps we were missing come control option.
Anyway, it seemed SO Diablo 2-like that I see no reason whatsoever to play it.
Please keep in my mind that I only gave it 5 minutes or so to impress me, which it failed to do, so I uninstalled that sucker.

This is the second thing I've heard today about this Samurai Jack thing. The first was on The Digital Bits, about a future DVD release.
Hmmm...does this qualify as "buzz"?

Mondays at 8 on the East Coast. The second episode wah "eh" but the first double length one kicked arse. I'm hoping the next one will be strong.

I LOVED 2 Stupid Dogs. "Electric City is your friend!"
Every now and then they show it really late at night.

Hmm...That's funny. Cartoon Network around here shows it all the time, I think. (My dog's a cartoon junky. She watches the Cartoon Network anytime my wife and I go anywhere. She just loves it!)
