Hopefully Mark and Tom will forgive me this blatantly commercial use of their boards, but the audience here will likely be very interested in the post.
I am now hiring a writer to work here at Red Storm. I stress that the position is in-house here at RSE, not a contract or out-of-house position.
Below is the requisition for the position.
Please do not email me your applications. I will answer questions about the position via email, or here in this thread as necessary.
Mark, Tom, if this post is a problem, please remove and email me. Apologies in advance.

Wanted: Writer
Experienced writer needed to help create quality computer and video games. This is a full-time salaried position based in an office in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina. The position requires prior published work with both fiction and non-fiction credits; prior game experience is preferred. The ideal candidate is expected to generate stories, characters and dialogue scripts, as well as edit and improve the written work of others. In addition, the writer will research, prepare and write instruction manuals, marketing materials, and a variety of other smaller projects. A demonstrable familiarity with writing about the military, intelligence agencies, and foreign relations, as well as the works of Tom Clancy, is required. The applicant must be creative, organized and enthusiastic. All applications must include a cover letter, full resume including publication credits, and two relevant writing samples (no more than 5000 words). This application should be sent to [email protected].

Ah, if only I'd been writing military-related articles for the past 4 years, and not game-related junk. A move to the good ol' US of A would be a welcome change right now.

I invite more companies to do this on this board. Tom and Mark willing, of course.

Kevin, I have no problem with people posting industry-related job openings here. I just don't want people to use the board to try to sell stuff. I get enough of that in my email every day.
Sounds like an interesting job. I can see why the fiction writing requirement is there, since the writer will have to write about "military intelligence." [insert rimshot]

Ba-dump -- ching!
(That's a rimshot, by the way...)

That sucks, in-house. There goes my big chance :)

Y'know, considering the number of lean gaming journalists prowling these parts, a section of the board devoted to game company recruitment could have interesting results, ya think?

Kevin,
Wanted to give you a heads-up. I just sent my application to Red Storm. I'm looking for a change from Vermont so a move down south would be great. I've been a professional writer since 1989 (recently as an editor/writer for Computer Games Magazine) and come from a military background, so the fit should be rather comfy. Thanks.
Bill

At this point, isn't that something best asked via private email/telephone, and not a public messageboard?

Sorry sir. What was I thinking? No replies to email. No phone number. Broke as hell. Family concerns. Desperation? Curiosity? Need a freaking job? Mea culpa.
Anyhow. Job filled.
And now we know.

Fair point. I have been remiss.
The position has indeed been filled.
Thanks to the many who applied.
