Don't have one, probably not getting one (but hey, I said I'd never get a Playstation 2!), but some PocketPC/WinCE games I've read about are:

Power Grip bowling.
Really nice animations. My caveat with video bowling games is most don't allow you to throw hooks and curves. In real life bowling leagues I got my average up as high as 157 (at age 22) throwing a straight ball but most folks with 160 plus averages threw hooks or curves.

iGolf.
Doing battle with the better known WinCE/Palm ZIOGolf game, this one apparently has great sound effects and the ability for TCP/IP online play, though you probably need a modem card (and with the Flash-slotless iPaq, a card sleeve) to do so.

No doubt that the PocketPC (and when I say PocketPC I mean _iPaq_) is a far, far better handheld gaming platform. It's not even close.

On the PocketPC you have MAME (arcade emu), Quake, Doom, Gameboy Color emu.. and the list goes on.

Not to say there aren't decent games for the Palm, but it's a very weak gaming hardware platform.

Weak hardware, maybe, but the number of good games available for the Palm far outstrips the number of games (ANY games) available for the Pocket PC. I mentioned in the other thread my doubts regarding how playable Quake could possibly be on ANY handheld platform (granted, I haven't tried it, but I just can't see how it could work). Doom and Hexen might be better, but how well does that 5-way "pad" button work in a shooter? My understanding was that it won't register continuous inputs if you hold it down. That would put a pretty big damper on playing any sort of action game, I would think.

The funny thing is that none of these handhelds are particularly suitable for action games unless the action is very simple. They certainly don't hold a candle to, say, the GameBoy Advance in that regard. I've always been more surprised that there aren't more strategy games for the Palm and Pocket PC devices--after all, you've got the equivalent of mouse control (one thing that the GBA doesn't have).

I have no doubt that the number of good PPC apps will increase, particularly considering how popular the iPAQ seems to be (apparently Compaq has something like 700,000 back orders to fill). Until those apps start to show up, however, I'll stick with my Visor.

Then again, there's always this...

I'm betting there will be a color Palm emulator for the iPAQ any day now.

I'm not kidding. A 200mhz ARM should have no problem emulating the 33mhz Motorola chip inside the Palm.

There already is one (not specifically for the iPAQ, but it's supposed to work on any Pocket PC device). It's pretty clunky, though.

But why would all the braggart PocketPC owners out there want to play measly Palm games? :)

Because there are far more games on the Palm than there are on the Pocket PC. That may change over time, of course, but for now it's the bottom line.
