I have been playing this game since the weekend...wow for just a demo and 2mb(!!) this game is pretty deep! Also, Tom Chick's review on CGO is dead on...this games not really about colonies but like the title says Starships! the whole fun of the game is what to make with your starships and what to research...
And this game is a one man team...wow...imagine that! btw, its worth the 2mb download to try the demo...theres an origniality aspect to STUN...almost like STUN is Starfleet Command inside a MOO game.

Sounds like you're playing all the same games as me. Tom and I mentioned StUn in another thread here at Qt3. It's a hell of a lot of fun and I don't use that word lightly. For a space 4X game, it's probably the most playable one I've seen. I can just watch the ships flit to and fro lobbing shots at each other from time to time and be enthralled.
It would be great to see the game get a retail game level facelift to go with its excellent mechanics. But even as it stands now, it's attractive as a shareware game and really only needs some interface tweaking to be just about perfect.
It's another one that's going to just slip under a lot of gamer's radars though thanks to the Black & White hysteria.

Hey Gang,
Andrew just came out with a NEW beta version! Among lots of other little tweaks you can now give fleet commands (all the ships in the fleet will go on the assigned mission together), spend a little extra cash to try and speed up production, maintaining new worlds won't be as profitable, and that ships are both twice as expensive and require higher age techs to even get some (the last tweaks are nasty but probably needed changes to keep the game as intended, no empire was ever supposed to have more than a handful of ships and a few worlds).

Thanks for the heads up, LordGek. Tom has played this game extensively, but I've yet to do more than download the demo and fire it up. Yet another game for my stack of games to get to. When will the madness stop!
