Return to Castle Wolfenstein

Mark's review: I won't pretend I played this game at length. I loved the multiplayer - great stuff - but I didn't get more than a couple of hours into the single-player before bailing. I'll recount the brief conversation I had with my oldest son who also played it. Thomas: "It's not as good as the first one, is it?" Me: "No, I guess not." Thomas: "Where's that Medal of Honor CD?"

Tom's review: Even though they were using id's Quake III engine, it stll took two whole developers to make this game; Grey Matter (nee Kingpin developer Xatrix) for the single player and Nerve for the multiplayer. Nerve did a decent job, if you like team-based games with no bots, no deathmatch support, and very little flexibility. Grey Matter's single player game is relentlessly linear, erratically paced, and often dull, but it's a much more exciting way to learn about Nazis than watching the History Channel. It also teaches you that the Nazis nearly won the war not by researching nukes, but by employing every gamer's favorite whipping boy, the undead.

Publisher: Activision
Developer:
Grey Matter, Nerve
Genre:
good-looking first person shooters with high-ish system requirements
Requirements:
you're done with Medal of Honor
