The PSP Slim may be smaller, but it also feels chintzier the original PSP, which we'll cal the PSP Fat. Mine is silver, which is a lot less sexy that the sleek fingerprint-attracting black of the PSP Fat. The Slim looks and feels like something that you'd find in a bubble pack at the checkout stand, next to the disposable razors, chapstick, AAA batteries, and laser pointer keychains.
This one came with a copy of Daxter, which was the PSP's excuse for a good platformer. Then Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters came out and was, in fact, a good platformer. And here's something that will irk Daxter fans: I think the relatively rough-hewn Dead Head Fred is a better platformer than Daxter! I haven't played it very much, but it seems clever enough and John McGinley does the voice of the lead character, which makes for a much better experience than listening to that shrill Pesci-alike who does Daxter.
I don't mean to be too hard on Sony. I'm really digging the new Syphon Filter, even if it doesn't feel any different from the old Syphon Filter. Furthermore, the next Ratchet & Clank is at the top of my current Looking Forward To list. And if it weren't for Team Fortress 2, Halo 3, or Quake Wars, I'd probably still be playing Warhawk.
