Geryk Pre-Analysis: Land of Legends Brooski - Columns - Comments - 07/22/05
There is a long campaign that takes you through all the races and missions and probably tells you the story of how it all worked out in the end. Don’t let the backstory detract from your enjoyment of the game, though, because the gameplay is actually really good. The fact that you can play skirmish and online modes is a real bonus, because it allows you to separate the individual battles from the story and let them take on their own significance which you create personally. Why did the archer shoot that evil sentinel? Only you know, because you created your own story, which is the best thing about games.
What else needs to go into a preview? “A masterpiece of the art form.” Nah, that was actually in a review. Land of Legends is demonstrates that no matter how much gaming tries to appear to be geared towards 12-year-olds, there are ways to make adults wish they were twelve for fifteen to thirty minutes at a time. I have no idea if that’s good or not. But I’m done. Have fun with this surprisingly engaging game. That is, if it is released with no bugs, fulfills its promise, gives 110%, comes to play, and isn’t suppressed by The Man.
