Man Damien, screw you for doing such an incredible job to try follow up! Umm, just a warning all, I'm not as funny or creative, but I'll make a good go of it.

From the diary of Inod `Damien' Dallithoddom.

It is winter now and it is very cold.

Mrs. Angie Gallant had another Meeting with me. I thought she was going to ask for a bigger bedroom again but she did not. She says that we must Sacrifice a dwarf or else spring will not come and it will be cold for ever and ever. I did not know what sacrifice means so I asked her and it means to kill.

I said that Mr. Adam Biessener and Mrs. Claycw already died this year and she said they do not Count. So I said we could kill a goblin instead because we have some in cages and she said goblins do not Count either. So I asked her who is going to die and she said that I am in charge and I have to choose.

I do not want to have to choose but I do not want it to be winter for ever and ever because it is so very cold. I said to Mrs. Angie Gallant that I do not want to be in charge if I have to choose who to kill but she said that it is my Responsibility.

I will have to think about who to choose.

I wish it was spring.

From the diary of Inod `Damien' Dallithoddom.

I hate winter. I want it to be over.

I do not want to write about what happened but I have to so I will start at the beginning and try not to cry. I am in charge and I have Responsibility and I do not have time to cry when there is so much to do even if I am sad.

The goblins attacked us again. There were even more of them than last time and they came from the southwest and the northwest. I told Mr. Quatoria and his guards to fight them. Mr. Quatoria and Mr. Walter Yarbrough went to fight the ones in the southwest.

Here are Mr. Quatoria and Mr. Walter Yarbrough fighting the goblins. The goblins are all around Mr. Yarbrough and he is not as strong as Mr. Quatoria because nobody is as strong as Mr. Quatoria.

The goblins hurt Mr. Yarbrough and knocked him out but Mr. Quatoria was there and he hurt them and made them run away. Mr. Yarbrough is still hurt but he will get better and he will not die.

After Mr. Quatoria made the goblins run away he ran to the other goblins who were in the north. He caught them on the field of ice that our pumps made. There were so many goblins I don't know how many there were. Mr. Quatoria killed them and killed them even though he was really tired. They hurt Mr. Quatoria a little even though he is really strong but he did not stop. The ice was red from all the blood and it was very slippery but he killed them until they had to run away and he killed the ones that were running.

Here is Mr. Quatoria on the ice.

But Mr. Quatoria did not know there were more goblins in the south. I did not know either because I thought they all ran away before. But there were more goblins and they were going to attack us.

But Daddy saw the goblins and he ran to stop them. He was in Mr. Quatoria's squad and he should have been with Mr. Quatoria on the ice but he knew that if he did not stop the goblins they might hurt someone. So he fought them all by himself and Mr. Quatoria could not help him.

And Mr. Quatoria killed all the goblins on the ice and he ran to help Daddy even though he was very tired and hurt but he was not fast enough and Daddy is dead and I am so sad that I want to cry and cry but I can not.

I can not because I have a sister now. Just days after Daddy died Mommy had another girl and she is my little sister and I have to make sure that she is safe. I have a Responsibility.

I do not want winter to go on for ever and ever. It is so cold and Daddy died and I want my little sister to see green trees and butterflies.

I am going to build a Bridge on top of the Tower. It does not go anywhere. It is a Bridge to Nowhere.

[Editor's note: I swear, I thought winter was going to be uneventful.]

I now understand why angry-Deadwood-refugee is the default dwarf viewpoint. Dwarf Fortress is not kind to innocents.

This has been a cruel winter.

From the diary of Inod `Damien' Dallithoddom.

I am so mad at Mrs. Angie Gallant! She wanted someone to make zinc items even though I TOLD her we do not have any zinc and we can not make any. And now she is mad and she says that it is Mr. Quatoria's fault and that he must be in the Gaol for 26 days.

What will we do if the goblins attack us again? It is not right and I do not know how Mrs. Gallant dares to put Mr. Quatoria in the Gaol and if everyone dies it will all be her fault and we still do not have enough coffins because everyone has been too busy to make more.

[Editor's note: This is, quite possibly, the single stupidest thing I've ever seen a noble do.]

Which is why the fortress seems to be designed to bake any dwarf that lingers too long underground.

If Quatoria needs care for his wounds, time in the gaol might not be the worst thing. Just give him a cozy bed in there and buckets of water now and then and he can heal in peace. Hell, engrave the walls and put statues in there. The fortress has survived many things but I fear Quatoria going berserk won't be one of them. Best to keep him as happy as dwarvenly possible.

Quatoria is actually such a tough son of a bitch that he had recovered from his wounds before the battle was over.

And yes, if he ever snaps, everyone is going to die.

From the diary of Inod `Damien' Dallithoddom.

The Bridge is done. It looks very pretty but it is not. It is ugly and it likes to kill dwarves. Mrs. Demolira was working on the bridge and she fell and died. I think the bridge wanted her to die.

I thought that maybe Mrs. Demolira could be the Sacrifice because she fell off the bridge but Mommy said that it was not my fault it was just an Accident and so I know that Mrs. Demolira does not Count.

This is the Bridge.

It is two weeks until the new year.

Hey, who has that program that converts your tileset of a fortress into a 3D representation, like the one posted earlier in this thread? I'd love to see the tower as it is now with the Bridge to Nowhere :)

Wow...what color were the wounds?

This sounds like the scariest dwarf DF has ever produced....was he worked since a child on the pumps, or did he just wrestle, I wonder?

He immigrated to the fortress as a bad-ass wrestler in I think the first year, and literally spends all of his time kicking the other dwarves' asses in unarmed combat in the barracks (thus increasing all of his attributes and those of whom he "trains").

(In a more "in-character" sense:) I'm shocked that any of the dwarves are willing to wrestle him. That would be like training in wrestling versus a heavyweight MMA fighter/ninja (I'm actually shocked they managed to wound him, I never saw anything hit him in my term). Sure, he's really good and could teach you a lot, but it's going to hurt.

It was his SECOND battle of the day, and against 20 goblins. Are gobbo's that weak!??!?!

He had a wound on his right lower leg that was either yellow or brown; I forget which. I checked again just seconds later, and it was gone.

I think the most bad-ass moment in that fight was when he killed two goblins, turned, and ran across the ice leaving a swath of blood behind him to smash another one half a dozen squares. I have no idea what his secret sauce is, although it's clear that whatever it is, poor Inod's dad Prolix didn't have it.

I can't even imagine what the goblins think of him.

No, Quatoria is that bad-ass. It doesn't matter how many goblins you are fighting if none of them can hit you and even when they do hit you you regenerate it in seconds.

Come to think about it, Quatoria sounds a lot like Wolverine with this new development in his awesomeness.

I never bothered to check, does Quatoria use weapons? I always just assumed he was punching the goblins since he is a wrestler but I guess he could be using an axe or a sword or something.

EDIT: Here is what I imagine a 3D representation of Quatoria versus 20 goblins would look like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQ0T5...eature=related
