I'd just like to dump on all you iPhone users, and tell you that the G1 is far superior.

I've used one of them - wasn't that convinced by it.

I'm surprised your battery charge lasted long enough for you to write this post.

I have a general app store question. I recently updated my Geocaching iphone app, and after the update it just would launch and then crash. So I restarted the iphone and still no luck. Then, I deleted the app with the intention of reinstalling it to see if that would fix the problem. Do I now have to repurchase this application? That seems to be what the store is telling me. Trying to sync the app in question from itunes on my computer won't work either and results in an error. What is going on?

p.s. my iphone is jailbroken, if that makes any difference.

I'm not sure what is going on with your application but if you "repurchase" from the AppStore it should be smart enough to know you own that application and not actually charge you again. I vaguely remember going through something similar to what you're explaining back when the AppStore was new and I "repurchased" some 99 cent app as an attempt to fix it and though the UI before I made the "repurchase" was unclear, it didn't actually charge me for the app again, it knew I already owned it and just redownloaded it.

Thanks for the tip zero. I did a restore, and that seems to have solved the crash problem.

A port of Fantastic Contraption is out. 2.99 introductory price. Probably going to buy this one too and add it to my collection of ipod games I buy and never play. If my computer blows up I'll be totally set at least!

No multitouch? Way less apps. The only plus I see is that it's got a microSD and a real keyboard.

Each product has their own tradeoffs, but this is the iPhone Games thread and not a "I'm looking for a phone" thread, so why post here about "superior" phones?

I picked it up and played a few minutes. Controls better than I thought, a bit twitchy though, driving was better than walking. A shame they didn't render it in opengl but it runs smooth.

Flick Fishing is on sale for 99 cents again this weekend. I bought it (surprise) and it's very good. Fear my boot catching skill.

Rebel Onslaught has dropped to 99 cents. Nice little Starfox type game. There is a Lite version for free.

Also Blue Defense! got a major update, it's also 99 cents.

I just noticed that Sega released a free "lite" version of super monkey ball a couple days ago. Might be worth a download if you are curious about the game.

Right now my addiction is running between:

Field Runners - tower defense, amazingly awesome graphics and sound and you can't put the damn thing down.

iShoot - Worms like shooting game

Mafia Live - A nice text based mob game (reminds me of the old text drug runner game) with some social aspects of creating mob families with your friends.

Laminar just released X-Plane Extreme, which looks more interesting (imo) than their earlier iphone releases. You get to fly an F-22 Raptor, SR-71 Blackbird, B-1 Bomber, or B-2 Bomber. This one also has other planes in the air while you fly.

One good website for iPhone gaming that I have discovered recently is Slide To Play. Its not the most detailed site in the world, but it works well to find information about new releases and impressions/reviews.

p.s. I'm hearing hearing good things about the follow up to Blue Defense, called Blue Attack!. Might be worth a look at $1.99.

I've been playing the crap out of Wordjongg since it was recommended on the final 1up Yours. Really hard though. I have yet to beat one of the talking animals' high scores :(
