Wii RB2 DLC Confirmed...storage solution far behind?

Well that's a lot of acronyms, but we're teh hardcore. We LIKE 'em.

According to 1up, Wii will have DLC for Rock Band 2, which means now I won't need to buy a 360 for RB2. It's ON.

Also, what does this mean for the Wii's rumored storage solution? Won't they HAVE to have one if they're going to be offering gigabytes of downloadable songs?

I think that 'storage solution' will turn out to be a recommendation to purchase some SD cards.

It'll be pretty funny if there's no storage solution. Which means you'd have to download songs to the Wii's memory 'blocks', and then transfer them (really slowly) to an SD card so you can download more music. And when you want to play a song, you have to first transfer that song from the SD card (really slowly) to the wii's memory blocks first. Heehee. OK, that won't be that amusing to people who actually are trying to play DLC on the Wii, but that is currently how DLC works on the Wii, and its the reason why I refuse to buy any Wiiware games until they come up with a better solution.

Really what are their options for storage solutions? Isn't their only expansion port the USB on the back of the Wii?

You're overlooking the other important news...

That RB2 for Wii can play multiplayer over the internet. (!!!)

GH: World Tour will use SD cards "seamlessly" for DLC on the Wii, so it's not completley out of the question to think that RB2 will do something similar.

Somehow I get the feeling that if a storage solution isn't released by the end of this year or early next, we might never see one hit the marketplace for the wii.

Re-downloading a game altogether is about 5 times faster than transferring it to SD. I just do that.

For me they take about an equal amount of time, i.e. way too freaking long. I guess this means I have a slow wireless connection. It could be because the Wii is in the basement away from the rest of the house, and the farthest away from the router than you can get without actually leaving the house. But regardless of the reason, it just takes forever to download anything. So I was really surprised when it took forever to transfer things to the SD card too.

And so it seems that Nintendo's 'solution' indeed turned out to be a recommendation to buy SD cards.

14:25: Hey, it's Nintendo's solution to the Wii's crappy internal storage! Let's see what Gemaga has to say: You'll be able to download software straight to an SD memory card, and be able to easily copy that software to the Wii. They're rolling this out in Spring 2009. Not quite sure what this all means!
I'm officially un-excited.

It sounds like it will be able to directly access it off the sd card from in game, but hard to tell from poorly translated japanese press reports.

To be fair 16GB/8GB SD is dirt cheap. Does the Wii support SDHC?
