There is something familar about all this.

Note: if you are going to steal from a game, make it one that wasn't a hugely popular game people spent 100 + hours playing. A point and click adventure game called Limbo of the Lost. More like Limbo of the Stolen.

That's really cheesy, the thought that someone went and carbon copied a game thinking that noone would catch on, is tantamount to a 3 year old trying to take a cookie from a cookie jar when you are standing right next to them. What the hell were they thinking is what I want to know.

That's pretty darn blatant. I'm somehow guessing that the formal response from Bethesda will be delivered by their lawyers.

Wow. Just wow.

It's actually a pretty clever idea for getting the art assets into your hobbyist-made AGS title, but trying to pass it off as your own, especially when you're selling it? Again, I say wow.

I say it's hoax.

One thing is to port a model over, one thing is to copy a locale with ALL the objects in their exact position.

Its a 2d point and click adventure. They just turned off the hud and hit print screen.

Someone should make a point-and-click adventure that shamelessly uses screenshots of many, many other games. Ideally, each screen from a different one, and with the less attempt made at consistency the better. I.e., I want to click away from the Oblivion screen to then travel through the briefing room from Wing Commander to click to an inexplicable screengrab from Rez, and so on.

Someone should do that with unreleased games.

With voice acting that merges words spoken from different games to create mashed together sentences.

Some links if you hate yourself enough to actually want to check out this game:

YouTube trailor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFVcqDfJKZo

Form an interview with the project directory:

Quote:
Gordon: So have any more recent games influenced your current project?
Steve: The project is more influenced by film and literature rather than other games, we want the experience to be as original as possible and as such we have made a calculated effort to keep away from other games in the genre. Limbo of the Lost is an experience first and foremost, secondly wrapped up in a game media and genre.
I think its fair to say they may be a bit more influenced than they are letting on.

Beautiful. Then some New Games Journalist of the Wagner James Au stripe could write ecstatically about how it's a postmodern apotheosis of the entire industry, if not human history as a gestalt whole. Come to think of it, some of the pieced-together voice acting should include excerpts recited from past Au pieces.

It'll settle the games vs art debate forever.

It sure is, and that's pretty much the point here. It's blatant thievery.

Pretty hilarious...

Have these guys made other games? I'm guessing not.

I hope this doesn't discourage Bethesda from releasing mod tools in the future.

It's really hard to tell from screenshots and videos, but it looks like this game is all pre-recorded 3D with the guy moving around the screen?

I was under the impression the backgrounds are actually static and the game is 2D, which of course makes this thing even more sad, since it's essentially barely-doctored screen shots they're using.

Wait a minute, I didn't know there was a subway in Oblivion! Is this part of the dungeon where you find the Dwemer Airship? Man, I looked all over and never could find that thing.

That subway might be from Silent Hill 3 or 4.

It's definitely from Silent Hill 3. Edit: After looking at the screenshots on gamespot, it's similar but the subway trains in SH3 had blue on them. Continuing to look for the source of the subway. It's not Silent Hill 4 either.

Pretty weird if they did this knowingly. If it's a small company, they might have outsourced the backgrounds to some freelancer.

Huh, I spoke too quickly. They're already doing that. So, Oblivion and one of the Silent Hills. Must find more!

The REAL game is to find what games it stole from.
