Duke Nukem Forever gameplay footage

Unfortunately, you have to stomach Jason Hall and his "edgy" new gaming show:

Pretty umm... well, looks like a shooter, I guess.

So is the video broken already, or is Canada just blocked, yet again?

Maybe only one person can watch it at a time, in which case you can blame me Charles (mwa ha ha).

Don't worry, you aren't missing much. I don't know if I can make it all the way through this tripe sober.

I used to be involved with a weekly podcast called The Daily Dementia back in 2001-2002 or so. As a reviewer I was a frequent guest, and Joe Siegler from 3d Realms was a regular as well. I gave him a few friendly ribbings about DNF over that time, but he was always upbeat and confident that it'd come out one day. I still believe we'll see it someday, all because of Joe's optimism :)

And yeah, the video they released in December looks kinda cheesy, but that's how Duke always was. It definitely made me want to play the game, but it feels as if it'll be a guilty pleasure sort of thing.

Awww c'mon, Jason Hall's a super nice guy, and he actually comes off pretty good on camera. The show's pretty decent - they're keeping it light and not hamming it up too much.

Oh, and Duke looks pretty good, but in fugly internet compressed video mode it's hard to get a real good sense of it.

The show I don't mind, but I don't know I'll seek it out though.

All FPSes are pedestrian. Otherwise, they'd be sims!

Without context, it's hard to make out if the footage is any good or not. Hopefully they have some callbacks to Duke 3D. I still remember the movie theater and adult bookstore (at least I think there was one) in that game. I also vaguely remember a space level, but that's about it.

Considering all the wide-open spaces of Duke3D, seeing nothing but tight corridors in that footage was not encouraging.

Make sure you have the latest flash version. I couldn't stand the preceeding show to the footage in order to watch it, but I did have to update/enable the flash player. It's because of the recent security scare related to it.

My main takeaway, I have to say, is that Marti Resteghini is really cute. Jason seems like a nice enough fellow. Broussard needs to lose the ponytail. The game footage seems generic. See also Prey, DOOM 3, etc.

Who's Jason Hall?

Additionally, I thought the show was annoying. The camera angles were far to jaunty for me to enjoy the thing they're ment to be filming :(

Also: As far as the footage goes, it looks like DUKE3D, but with contemporary graphics. Is that a good or a bad thing?

Most of the time, right when I start to feel like I have about as a decent perspective on this whole industry as a consumer can, the internet puts me in my place and reminds me I wasn't even close to being in on the ground floor of this operation (especially when we start talking PC games, which means especially around Qt3. Or maybe you're all really old).

But everywhere I go, it's "Who's Jason Hall?" and I can't imagine how anyone doesn't at least vaguely remember the name. I mean, I couldn't have told you specifically the games he was credited for and in what roles, but I could've at least told you he was "the Monolith guy" and then tried to remember if he was there for both NOLFs, or if he'd left before 2. For that matter, I could've at least told you he was JASON HALL, KING OF TEH MONSTARS. How does a part of the internet with enough perspective to be interested in the legacy of Duke Nukem 3D not remember this guy at all?

Turn your music down and get off my lawn, I guess.

I love how Scott Miller says they make "mature games" with a straight face.

Also I'm right there with Schmidt, kind of surprised there are PC gamers out there who don't know who Jason Hall is, but I guess I'm just old and shit.

Holy cats, that's who this "Jace Hall" dude is? I've been getting press releases about some hip dude named "Jace Hall" who had a videogaming video show and I just assumed he was from The Hills or something.

But it's Jason Hall? Wha...?

Yay another lame show that pretends to be off the cuff and is totally scripted. At least they arent doing the two things that drive me batshit insane about gametrailers.tv:

-Making me look up Geoff Keighlie's nostrils
-Making the show seam more interesting by having the 'talent' in constant motion when there is NO CLEAR REASON to be fricking walking around.

As for Duke: http://duke.a-13.net/

Somehow getting to level 70 shouldnt have taken that long.

Looks like standard fare as far as gameplay goes. 15 seconds of shooter footage doesn't tell me much about how fun the game may be, though.
