Bioshock 360 issues.
Not a bashing thread, just a curiosity. Playing Bioshock for a couple hours last night, I noticed that during the intro, the voice over as you are approaching the city in the bathysphere kind of chopped up, and repeated a few segments. It *seems* to be the only place I've run in to it so far. Wondering if other people have seen the issue too.

I personally had no such problem with that sequence. I haven't had any problem whatsoever with the game yet. My 360 is more or less brand new, though.

No issues for me. It runs smoother, with smaller load screens and less choppy, than Oblivion, which is the only 360 game I've ever had performance issues with.

Turning on subtitles I noticed the syncing was WAYYYYYY off. Subtitles were at least a sentence or two ahead of the spoken dialogue and thus text would wipe off screen for the next statement just as previous stuff was about to be said.
I just turned it all off again a few minutes into it. |

Saw that as well, just for a brief period in the beginning. I've had no problems since with the audio, and I've played for 5 hours.

I had a problem with the 360 version that I noticed in the begining while in the plane crash that there would be audio pauses or hiccups. It was annoying actually. Luckily I haven't noticed that in the hour or so playing afterwards.

No problems here.
Except, of course, for seeing less image real-estate than someone with an SD TV. |

I had an issue related to the dvd-rom last night. I kept hearing my disc spin down during play (at first I thought this might be intentional?) And I hit a point where it tried to load and couldn't causing the game to freeze. The drive was just clicking a bit. I powered down, made sure the disk was clean, and it's been fine ever since (4+ hours of playing after that). Maybe my 360's DVD drive is dying.

Some sound buffering issues at start, smooth going after maybe 5 minutes. Nothing else from install to several hours in. Oh, PC version.

Just froze up about five hours into a session, but sadly that kind of behaviour is hardly unique to Bioshock with regards to my 360. Otherwise, the game runs like butter. Scary, scary butter.

No audio problems like you describe on my 360, Charles.
I did notice the subtitle synch issues though, especially during the scene that plays right after you get your first plasmid. One annoyance is that I've been reading the diary messages in the Pipboy (or whatever its called), and then I have to see the subtitles for each one I've read when back in the game proper. |

Subtitle sync issue is really annoying especially when you can't turn it up late at night for fear of waking up the kids next door. I need the text to find out what is going on in the story.
Other than that 4 hrs last night, no issues. |

I don't wish ill on anyone's 360, but it's worth noting that I was able to play through the entire game over the course of three days of heavy usage in a house in the Valley without A/C and I didn't get a single lock-up.
So I'm just saying that I think madkevin's lock-up is a product of his system and not BioShock. But, yeah, don't take my word on it. I've had to deal with so many returns that my dead Xboxen radar is hypersensitive. -Tom |

Tom, I've heard that suggesting someone else's Xbox might be about to die can, in fact, cause your own Xbox to die. The irony circuit overheats and warps the circuit board. You might want to watch out, there.

I've noticed the subtitle sync thing as well. Only other issue I've seen is that a couple times the hacking minigame has had no sound.
I am perfectly happy to play it on 360 rather than PC if these are the most serious issues I ever see. |

Mentioned this in the main Bioshock thread, but I can't pick the diagonal options from the radial menus. I suspect there's a bad interaction between the game and my 3rd-party controller.
I'm seeing a lot of niggling bugs, e.g. once I died between the right bumper press and the radial menu popping up, and after I respawned the right stick had no effect until I brought up the menu again to unstick it. One of the, uh, vendor-like interfaces claims to cost one dollar but actually costs two. The subtitles being out of sync is probably the most annoying of these. There was also a time when a dramatic musical sting started right as I began to hack something, and my relaxing game of Pipe Dream was scored with the music that was supposed to back up the subsequent fight. Funny stuff. I think these sorts of failings are to be expected in such an ambitious game. Deus Ex comparisons spring to mind. The enemy AI is much better, of course, and Bioshock also avoids a lot of the friendly AI ridiculousness you could set up in Deus Ex, like blocking Anna Navarre's path out of Manderley's office with a handy couch. Not that I'm complaining; making the AI spaz out while telling you to stop messing around was more fun for me than all the damn shooting the game was trying to get me to do instead.
