Hmm...all those bloody mods and activating 'Book Jackets and Placement' causes the game to refuse to start!
Apparently, one of the errors listed in the conflict checker is that an .esm master file is missing for this mod ('bookplacement.esm', maybe?)... Anybody else getting 4,000,000 conflicts between MMM and Fran's? Kunikos, do you know which .esps and .esms I'm supposed to have activated out of these if I'm using BOTH Fran's and MMM? It doesn't really say in the Readmes since you just answer questions during install (i.e. you don't get a tutorial about which .esp does what, and it gets really confusing since the upgrade from MMM 1.71 leaves some .esps hanging around activated even though the 'new' esps are also activated and labeled 'MMM 2.0 Upgrade'): MMM - Friendlier Factions.esp (still labeled MMM 1.71) MMM - Resized Races.esp (still labeled MMM 1.71) MMM - Fran's Leveled quests + HC + DD.esp (still labeled MMM 1.71) MMM.esp (labeled MMM 2.0 upgrade) MMM.esm (labeled MMM 2.0 upgrade) MMM for Francescos.esp (2.0 up) MMM - Fran's leveled quests.esp (2.0 up) The rest of MMM are optional, so I can figure those out. Right now, I have ALL of the above mods enabled, as well as ALL of Francesco's mods (there are no 'compatibility' mods included in Francesco's default install, though, anymore)...ALL of these mods were enabled BY DEFAULT except for the MMM-Fran's compatibility mods which were selectable during MMM 1.71 install...ALL MMM 2.0 upgrade mods were enabled by default. Thanks tons! I can at least start the game after removing the book jacket/placement thingy, so I'll probably just run through the tutorial...also, I can post this question on the official forums later if no one knows the answers... |

I'd say that removing book jacket/placement would be your best bet. I'm out of town right now so can't really check on anything. And yeah, no question I'd be able to host the entire 2gig file on my site; I'll probably stick Kunikos' addons on an ftp since the size is considerably less.

Thanks...yeah, I removed the bookjacket/placement mod and it works fine...in fact, I found copies of each mod separately via google and they work okay, too. Just wondering about the generic activation of MMM vs. Frans right now, heh. There are just so freaking many .esps and stuff left over from 1.71 that it just looks weird with SEVERAL base .esps and SEVERAL compatibility .esps activated all at the same time...usually it will say to only activate one or two in the Readme, but the ones I listed were on by default...I assume it's correct since at least the game starts...?
EDIT: okay, the eyes are all screwed up EXCEPT for on the custom races (at least the Mystic Elves or whatever looked fine)...gotta start disabling stuff... EDIT2: disabling Beautiful People fixes the eyes on normal races...of course you are unable to play the custom races, but I don't care since I had intended on choosing a normal race, anyway...hrm, is there anything else removed by disabling this one, I wonder? Has anyone got the Beautiful People mod to work with non-fucked-up eyes? Last edited by hammermd; 03-06-2007 at 08:51 AM.. |

Disable all the 1.71 files for MMM. You shouldn't have Francesco specific files for 2.0, though....
As for Book Jackets, make sure to disable the -BP.esp part of it because that only is for Book Placement mod (which is separate). Here's a screenshot of my OBMM order. The idea is to load your bugfix mods FIRST, then DLC mods and DLC fixmods SECOND, then graphical mods THIRD, then gameplay mods FOURTH (MM, then Fran, OOO, MMM, then any fix mods), and finally any companion and quest mods LAST. I still haven't tried it out, but I'm hoping that this will work, as it has in the past. :P Also, if you have problems with screwy eyes or duplicate races with Beautiful People then some other mod is modifying the same data and messing with it. This could be a custom race or if you don't install Mighty Magick properly (there is a separate Mighty Magic - Races.esp for Beautiful People specifically!). IE anything that modifies player racial data could be the culprit. Read the readme, it has suggestions, I believe. Try disabling the "Boetha Custom Race" fix part of BP, maybe it conflicts with the Slof's Dremora stuff. Personally I installed the Nonnude Slof's Dremora mod (I'm not a fan of taking the items off NPCs and getting an eyeful of wang), and I don't think that packs in the Dremora PC race. Quote:

Thanks, Hawk.
Also, when you first get in-game, make sure you whack F8 twice and choose different keys for the Hotkey Menu mod; otherwise, you won't be able to run (L-shift) or use Alt or Ctrl for stuff...I changed one to 'B' and one to 'N', myself... Finally, does anybody know how to fix the intermittent black screens other than turning off HDR Lighting? They've had this problem since the release...I keep typing 'clearadaptedlight' into the console, and that fixes it temporarily, but...? |

Has anyone gotten the Mod Manager to work in Vista? It errors out for me each time, seemingly with file permission errors, even if I run it as Adminstrator.

Works fine for me... try reinstalling it and run the installer as Administrator? I made myself Administrator and turned of UAC so I wouldn't have to worry about that kind of thing.

You guys convinced me to give this game another try. I've been seeding for days and finally had some time to reinstall oblivion and get started with all these mods.
Oy. Vey. What a whip. Is installing linux easier or worse than this, even with the mod manager? |

All I can say about QTP3 + Better Tiling 4096 + Natural Weather is GOD DAMN.
I'd dredge up that old term "photo realism," but I don't have a $9,000 camera. Also, I'm not a big fan of that AFLevelMod. While it actually seems to give you a good balance of attribute improvements (without being too powergamey), I don't like the "level anywhere" approach. Inns are pointless if you don't need to rest to level, dammit! |

There are certain events that only take place if you sleep in a secure place. (Such as after killing an innocent in cold blood.)
You could previously rest anywhere, so resting in a bedroll out in the wilderness had no discernable difference (as far as leveling goes) from sleeping in an inn. If you install the fatigue and hunger mod then you will have real reasons to both eat food and sleep. |

That's true about the bedrolls, but mostly I just dislike that AFLevelMod doesn't give you a choice in the matter.
"You're going to level up right now, dammit!" "But what if I don't..." *smack* |

But leveling up means you have to make hard, nail-biting decisions! Should I put my points here, or here, or maybe here... oh, why am I so indecisive?!

I seem to be automatically levelling up? With no input from me what should develop. I don't have the AF levelling mod activated (although I did, and I answered questions after equipping the ring of choice) and the first time I slept to level I was interrupted by a character from The Legacy. Anyone know what's going on?

Read the AFLevelMod's readme. You didn't uninstall properly, I'm guessing.

So I installed all of this, and everthing seems to be working ok, except now all the stained glass windows are purple. Does anyone know which mod covers this, or maybe a fix?
As an addendum, I'm thinking of adding a second video card to my machine to get a couple more years out of it. I have a Nvidia 7800 GTX now; would I need the exact same brand card, or just another 7800 GTX? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I tried looking at the Nvidia site, but the garish green made my sinus headache go to 11. Last edited by EvilTodd; 03-10-2007 at 07:14 PM.. |

Cathedral window fix as mentioned in the last page.
Does anyone else get a CTD if they activate the rebuilding Kvatch quest after you become the hero of Kvatch? Also, anyone else getting missing textures for their patrolling guards? Any ideas where the conflict would be? |

Just wanted to give a thanks to Jason, who has contributed so many goddamn hours to this project, along with everyone else; for such fine work. I've been pretty critical of Oblivion in many ways, but these mods (along with a totally kick-ass new computer) have totally revived this game for me. It's still no Ultima, nor is it even a Morrowind, but I'm having a lot of fun once again and it's actually pretty damned challenging now, so I can't complain.

Thanks. It turns out searches for 'cathedral' work a lot better when 'cathedral' is spelled right. |
