I think actively going around hunting for clearance games is likely to be a waste of time unless your Target commonly has great deals. But if you're there for other reasons (I do most grocery shopping at my local Target), it doesn't hurt.

Great. Someone else who is lucky with their local Target. Believe me, I've been there plenty of times. To several Targets. I haven't seen a single deal that's cheaper than buying on Amazon, Newegg and the Gamefly sales when they get rid of older inventory. As soon as games get marked to $30-$40 at the Targets here, they get sold out. Or they get sent to your Targets, who knows. Point is, none of them ever stick around long enough to get marked down any further except for stupid crap like Dark Sector. Heck, even Dark Sector I bought for around $5 from Amazon before discovering that wasn't worth it, and stuff like that is still marked around $15 at my local Targets.

As for Amazon, 75% off $60 title is $15 as the new price, right? I've bought plenty of games at Amazon at that price. Some even lower. I will admit it hasn't happened in a few months, but these things come and go in cycles.

Yeah, I don't get to Target nearly often enough to make it likely I'll find anything good in the clearance endcaps, since I don't buy groceries there or anything.

Via @GamerDeals, Amazon is offering $20 off a future purchase for those that pre-order Bad Company 2, Limited Edition. The LE is regularly priced ($59.95 at Amazon) and appears to simply be a pre-order special edition. Here is what Amazon lists as the features of the LE:

Joystiq has details on what exactly comes in the LE:

The four BFBC2 unlocks are:

* Improved Vehicle Armor - Pretty self explanatory.
* Supreme Vehicle Firepower - Additional weapon mounts for the driver.
* Vehicle Motion Sensor - Locate enemy units in proximity to vehicle.
* Tracer Dart Pistol - Attaches to any vehicle "to track, lock on, and fire rockets onto moving targets even beyond line of sight"

The other two unlocks are for Battlefield 1943 and give soldiers the M1A1 Submachine Gun and the M1911 Pistol, which are both ... you know, guns that go pew-pew.
It looks to me like all of the stuff is for MP, which I'll never play. I do like the $20 off a future game purchase though.

Regardless of what your Target clearance bins look like, they have Left 4 Dead 2 on sale this week (360) for $34.99. Assassin's Creed II is $39.99 on PS3/360.

I almost ordered but why? By the time I play my current back log, I'll be able to pick that up for $5 or less. With free shipping.

When I see a decent looking 360 game for $20 or less I usually go for it, but that's a fair point. Way to guilt me into staying the course!

Via @GamerDeals: Amazon is offering Trine (PS3) for $9.99. That's half off.

Before purchasing this, understand that the DLC is no longer available. One of those DLCs is the ability to play MP with those who have already purchased the now-unavailable DLC for those who have not.

Huh?

How does THAT work? I mean, I already bought all the DLC and finished the game almost twice, but why is the DLC not on the market any more? It's not like making it rarer will make it more valuable or anything, because I can't sell my DLC to anybody else. They just can't afford the care and feeding of those bits?

From what I understood, it was the character licensing that prevented the DLC from being available after a certain point.

That is one of the dumbest things I've heard in awhile. If that is the issue, why did they even release DLC?

I have no idea. I'm also unable to confirm that info now, but when this whole thing went down, that was the word that was going around. Some were speculating that it had to do with Disney's buyout of Marvel, but really, who knows. Just add it to the list of horrible decisions that Activision's been making lately.

The only downside to the gaming credit from Amazon is that usually has a rather short expiration date. The $10 credit I got for ME2 expires around the end of this month, I think.

With gaming being my main hobby, I always buy at least one game per month and I buy 99% of my games from Amazon, so that's never been a problem.

And cancelled. They did give me a $5 gift certificate for some reason, though that may be for unrelated reasons. It was worth a shot, anyway.

Those of us who make less frequent purchases and from a wider variety of vendors appreciate the warning. :)

Shattered Horizon is getting a free weekend (on the 19th-21st), and will also be 50% off to purchase, both via Steam. This game has really needed something like this ever since launch. I've been wanting to check it out, but I worry that it's going to be another Section 8--great game, nobody playing.

Really? That's weird. I got the $5 gift certificate (for no clear reason), but my order is still listed as expected to ship 3/2/10.

Edit: Nevermind, immediately afterwards I got an e-mail informing me that it had been cancelled. Oh well. It was worth a shot. I didn't want it particularly badly, but at $20 it would have been worth it.

That's nice of them. I recall one of the times Walmart fucked up and listed a bunch of preorder games for ridiculously low prices, they just canceled my order and told me to screw off.

I'd love to try it, but the main cost of Shattered Horizon is the Windows 7 license, not the game itself.

Newegg has a 12 month XBox Live Sub for $34.99, free shipping. Many games under $10 also (all systems, too many to list, but nothing specifically caught my eye).

Gamersgate has included a lot of Mac games for sale here.

Ones that seem notable to me are Avernum 5 and Geneforge 5 for $10 each, Dragon Age: Origins for $40, EU3 Complete for $15 and HttT for $10, Machinarium for $10, Osmos for $5, and World of Goo for $10.

Spiderweb games typically go for $25 a pop by themselves. That's a hell of a sale. (Since when are they on Gamersgate, though?)
