Damn good thing I bought Critter Crunch when I did. I didn't expect them to sell out of it.

Wow! I'm glad I bit early. Ryan O'donnell (Co-op, 1upShow) tweeted about the deal a couple of times, which I'm sure raised awareness quickly.

Not a videogame, but DriveThruRPG has a crazy bundle pack where you donate $20 towards Haiti and get metric ton of roleplaying game PDFs. Lots of little scenarios and countersheets, but mixed in are a couple good full-on RPGs - there's some older RPGs like Classic Spycraft/Shadowforce Archer and I've personally got my eye on on Apocalypse Prevention Inc and 3:16 - Carnage Amongst the Stars. Only catch is that you won't get the actual goods for a couple days as they're trying to space out the downloads (although giving everyone access over the weekend doesn't sound like a better idea...)

DriveThruRPG has already raised nearly $65,000 with this promotion last I checked. Phenomenal.

Oh, those DriveThru RPGs are for live roleplaying? I was stunned when I saw what seemed like an endless list of shovelware games, thinking that no one could have developed all of that to be stuck on some random website. Tabletop stuff makes a lot more sense, and I'm glad to see the promo is working.

I jumped on that as soon as I saw it. I'll need something to look into when we finish our Serenity RPG campaign. ;)

Frankly, no. However, it may be worth it just to have one convenient download source so if you ever go through a reinstall then you don't have to wrestle with CoH's miserable update/patching system (presumably Steam keeps the most recent, patched versions on their servers).

So the weekend sale starts before the midweek sale ends. Cool. I wonder if low prices are a result of the lack of second hand sales here. I.e. 4 people buy the game at $5 instead of one at $20 where it's sold on three times.

Critter Crunch and Burn Zombie Burn are now available for those prices through PSN as well. They're having a sale.

I don't even know what half of that stuff is and I doubt I'll ever play much or any of it but I just bought the promotion. That's a pretty awesome thing they're doing.

Wow, that's so awesome. I am a perennial bargain bin hunter in gaming stores -- anytime I can find a $20 book marked down to like $5, I can't help buying it. And now I'm getting THOUSANDS OF PAGES for $20!!! Awesome! (I don't have time to play RPGs with other people, but I sure do like perusing them in mental downtime zones :-)

Normal multiplayer offers a different unit for each faction that you can opt-in to use in place of what you'd normally use. These range from minor to major upgrades and one very different choice (the brit kangaroo carrier instead of the cromwell). I bought it since I play a ton of COH, but I would definitely say it wasn't worth full price. At that discounted price I'd say it's worth it for the well done singleplayer missions alone. |

I never understood the frustration with ME. It really wasn't all that difficult. There were a few hail mary moments where you had to jump without seeing where you were going to land (always a bad thing!), but overall the game wasn't that difficult.

Agreed, on both counts. It also felt arbitrary and inconsistent. I'd do the same jump (wall run, whatever) a half dozen times falling the first five and succeeding the last and never understanding what was different for any of the attempts.

That game was so bad, I brought it into work and left it in the break room as a freebie for anyone who wanted it. True story.
