The single best way I've found to kill the convicts seems to be to take the fight into close quarters and hopefully get them to ram a tree. Once they've done that, stand in front of them and fire over the windshield at the gunner; he won't open fire on you if you're in front of the jeep. I've also been told that one effective method of dealing with them is to park your survivors in one of the booths near the entrance to the food court, where the zombies almost never go, then Quickstep outside (ice pops + yogurt; check the ice cream stand) and head to the parking lot. Steal a car and ram the jeep. |

What about the shortcut from Wonderland to Paradise? Do survivors follow you through that?

OK, I am stupid. How exactly can you get up to where Carlito is, the first time you make it across the plaza? And I am totally blowing up that fucking jeep first chance I get, I'm sick of it. (After I use it to get my 500 zombie kill bonus, that is.)
Yeah, the unskippability of the whole beginning really blows. But it's clearly deliberate. Part of me admires the cojones here, to so deliberately include a forced player-time cost to restarting. And part of me just wants to be able to skip things like the Jeep guys taking out Sophie's boyfriend :-P |

The problem that I'm running into with the jeep is that ostensibly, blowing it up stops the convicts from respawning in the courtyard.
That said, I can't seem to actually blow it up; I can certainly render it unable to be driven, but actually detonating it seems to be beyond my abilities at this point in time. I'd like to stop these fuckers from coming back, if it's at all possible. Quote:

Got ending A on my first full run though, 20 survivors. Just started overtime mode, god damn special forces fuckers.
Some interesting things, I never fought Cletus. Also never fought the Cult leader. How do you get the Cult guy to spawn? I got caught by cultists, no dice, I went to theater 4, nothing, is it some time of day or something? Also never found the crazy cop girl. So I definately missed a bunch even with the A ending. |

Also, I managed to save Sophie. It's actually fairly easy if you aren't saddled with anyone else at the time; all you have to do is run like hell.
If you play your cards right, you can save Burt and Aaron before going back for Sophie, then take the convicts out in a cleared courtyard and go back to Al Fresca for Leah. |

I have to say that as annoying as the unskippable intro is, the fact that you keep your skills when you restart is really the key. Yesterday I played through and forgot to find a restroom, so the convicts killed me and I had to begin again. But I had another slot, and a few skills, and next time I'll have more.
It forces you to take your time management seriously, because fucking it up involves some pain. (Wasted time, the only true penalty you can inflict on a gamer!) But at least your next run-through is more cathartic, because you have more tools to deal with situations. Last edited by RepoMan; 08-13-2006 at 11:16 AM.. |

Grab an engineering book, and it will last 3 times as long! Adam drops two of the light chainsaws, but here's a very important tip: after you beat him, they will actually spawn there at the coaster. Just stop by from time to time (maybe after each time you leave the area and come back) to grab another one. Engineering book + light chainsaw is hands-down the best way to kill almost anything. Zombies, psychopaths, you name it. |

THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. Baseball bat + sports book seems to be the winner in Paradise where you first start, but once I get those chainsaws and engineering book? WATCH OUT!

How many endings are there? A through F? After several restarts, I think I'm finally going to make it all the way through, though I'm not doing too well on scoops/survivors. I did manage to save Sophie, though only because the convicts mysteriously didn't spawn. I got the cutscene with them harassing her, but then they weren't there when gameplay resumed.
One thing I'm really finding annoying is how scoops apparently don't appear if you're in the same zone as them. It seems like you have to be in a different zone for Otis to call. That makes it really tough to get everything done in the first day, at least, where time is extremely tight. On my current game, I didn't get the call about the other photographer until I was halfway across the outdoor area, so didn't bother to go back for it. Edit: Ah, I see through my l33t xbox.com detective work that the A ending isn't the true ending, so there's at least one more. Last edited by DanielElliot; 08-13-2006 at 12:23 PM.. |

Actually, I've been honing my skills on that. The first day isn't hard to do if you run like a motherfucker and know exactly what you're doing. The big timesinks are Kent, naturally, and waltzing with the convicts.
I'm about to try to whack Adam and see if I can use his shortcut to make it easier to save Leah, Yuu, and Shinji. |

I think the combination of Chainsaws and shortcut maked Adam the psychopath to beat. I didn't even try for Cletus on my first run through.

The shortcut is, without a doubt, immensely useful, and yes, others can use it under standard 'door' rules. (i.e. they must be standing near you when you use it.) |

Where is the shortcut? I killed Adam, then saved while escorting the guy who shows you the shortcut, and that apparently broke his scripting because he ran into the women's bathroom, pointed at a blank wall, and told me that was the shortcut. Unless I'm missing a secret passage or something.

Yuu and Shinji are actually two of the most useful survivors in the game, simply because they will actually fight to defend themselves. Give them katanas, cleavers, a shotgun, or Adam's chainsaw, and they make good backup against anything short of a psychopath.

there are 2 other books that also add durability to those. Edged weapon one and one other I dont recall. From what I've read, all 3 stack their multipliers heavily, so they last like 27 times as long when using those books. |

Question about the early game.. I've seen most ppl say that survivors are brought through Leisure Park (such as Leah the mom who lost her baby).. the map seems to indicate that the Entrance Plaza area connects to Paradise Plaza, which could get you back to the security room. But playing the game, there's no connection there that I see.
What am I missing? |

I can't believe there isn't a guide for this game on gamefaqs yet. Aren't there any college students / unemployed people out there any more? Write me a guide!

I got ending C, and I can't figure out if I got robbed because I stopped to make a smoothie (I could have sworn I had a few more minutes until noon) or if it was predetermined by something I did earlier, hmm.
Either way, I think that was one of the worst possible ones. I think this time I'm gonna try to save as many people as I can, and ignore the cases. Should be a little easier starting from level 24... |

I'm working on a Dead Rising for Obsessive-Compulsives sort of guide in my spare time, but don't expect to see it anytime soon.
I think the key to accomplishing everything on day two is to realize that Medicine Run doesn't actually end when the clock runs out; it just makes life real difficult for you once the next mission starts. |

It's possible it's a glitch in my copy or something, but nothing of lasting consequence seems to happen. You just start the next case at a time deficit.
