Solium Infernum: make a pact with the devil
Who here is interested in Solium Infernum at launch? I know I am. Its release is presumably approaching, and I was thinking it would be awesome if we arranged a big inaugural first game of Solium Infernum. Wait, I'm not done. I think it would be cool if we all kept notes on the game as it progressed and published them when it was over.
I'm not talking about some roleplaying thing where everyone writes about how truly Hell will feel the sting of their jackboot, and Lord Belial will suffer for defriending them on facebook, just straightforward explanations of the current situation, victory strategies, and why you're doing what you're doing this turn. I think this kind of examination will highlight the information and options available to players, conveying the experience of playing the game and the first impressions it generates. Is anybody in? |

When is it coming out? I can take part if it's PBEM and isn't coming out for a little while.

If we organize three full games, I think that'll make us certified Satanists.
Someone in the beta can tell us when it's coming out with more accuracy than I can, but perhaps sometime this month and perhaps delayed from that. There's PBEM. Up to 6 players per game. We could organize more than one game if necessary.

Unicorn, you stole my idea! :P
I suggested something similar for Hinterlands. Too bad that one turned out a dud. I'm confident Solium Infernum won't end the same way. |

I'm in if there are spaces left (or a second 'table' getting started).

This is an awesome way to put pressure on Vic to get the game done. Thumbs up!

I would like to as well, but I am a scared-y cat when it comes to getting drilled by TBS gamers with more skills than me. I DO expect SI to feed starving children and stop the Nuclear programs in North Korea and Iran. No pressure. |

I'm definitely interested.
Tyjenks, I don't think you have to worry too much about getting stomped. I think there are plenty of us in the shallow end of the pool. |

I've been itching for a PBEM game ever since I resigned to sucking forever at Dominions.

So many good indie games. I'll never have time for that mainstream crap like DA:O and Torchlight. By the time I finish GSB it will be time for Eschalon Book 2 or Solium Infernum. 2009 may turn out to be the best gaming year ever.
I'm in on day one, but sorry, not into multiplayer. Vic's AI is plenty for me. |

Even on a brand-new computer, the highest detail setting in Dom3 takes FPS down to 2.
Join the club -- except that I realized later that it wasn't exactly that I was bad at Dominions, and more that I'd gotten stuck with the absolute worst side (Late Ulm) trying the absolute worst strategy (focus on powerful and expensive conventional infantry) against a really sensible counter (army leavened with fear-causing units). Now I'm Dominions-curious again.

I'd like to hear more about the gameplay in this one. The talk about random cards each turn has me a bit worried. |
