I did get a Battle Cruiser, to my utter astonishment, but I never got a Shogun Warrior. And I didn't forget that a few years later when my little bro got multiple Voltrons. We had kickass duels with Microtron and Nemesis, though --- like sumo matches, arranging the swappable parts to try to push the other one over. |

Were Micronauts the ones with those little fucking white feet that would come off and your little sister would chew on them and then all your micronauts would be footless?
Also, the big bad Darth Vader clone guy with the magnetic ball socket joints was pretty cool. Although I think I lost his shootable fists and that orange drill part pretty quick, but the core part of the toy lasted for a while. Chris |

You could ride the Transformers bandwagon and pay for it with Michael Bay-bucks. Just get a good director. Last edited by rhinohelix; 11-06-2009 at 05:50 PM.. |

![]() Fuck yes. I made my "Bront" Robotix brontosaurus fight my Zoids brontosaurus, and the anemic little Zoids motor and smaller plastic parts stood no chance against the powerful leg motors and motorized jaw of its Robotix counterpart. Took forever to clean up the Zoids wreckage, afterward. Stupid rubber joint bolts tended to scatter everywhere. Last edited by balut; 11-07-2009 at 09:29 PM.. |

I loved the comic. Still one of my favorites, although someone pointed out that Golden has absolutely no sense of anatomy. He just makes up muscles as he goes along. Baron Karza was also awesome. As I understand it he came from an entirely different line of Japanese toys based on Go Nagai designs. Quote:

I didn't have ROM, but I found the commercial strange and almost sad, like the frigid reaches of space.

The Rom comics were full of tragedy. I remember Rom had a buddy Spaceknight, Terminator, who had some kind of disease or had been hit with some kind of biowarfare agent, such that he knew that even when the war was over he was never going to be human again. This plot played out when he destroyed a ship full of people infected with the same stuff that Rom was trying to rescue. When you're 8 or 9 years old this is pretty heavy stuff.

Holy shit, speaking of tragedy, I knew Bill Mantlo wrote both Micronauts and ROM so I went to his Wiki page to see what other cool stuff he might have written. I found this:
