I'm also curious how to change the difficulty via the console. I'd love to move my melee character from normal to hard.

Yeah, having to stop for a few seconds to actually blow up the damned vase/urn/whatever definitely breaks the flow of the game for me.

Still, as you said, it remains genuinely fun. :) Gonna do some more map dungeon farming when I get home!

I can't get my pet to learn spells! He won't learn heal self or silence. I even deleted summon archers to see if that would solve it. No good.

I haven't tried those two spells on my pet, but mine likes to nuke with the ice spell I gave it. It's a cat (most of the time) if that makes any difference. No idea if dogs and cats go for defense vs offense or not as a rule.

I think he has a dog. My cat can learn any spell.

So is it a bug or a cat? Make up your mind! :P

So the game patched tonight and I hit my first bug. I took a quest from that portal guy in town and left it for a while, now when I go back I can't click on his portals anymore. I even tried abandoning the quest, leaving town and coming back before taking a new quest, but that just creates another unclickable portal. :(

Random thoughts on the game:

--I got a pretty cool pair of boots while fishing. Although I think the whole fishing mechanic needs to be sped up a bit (especially the long pause between hitting the hook button and finding out what you caught, and then being booted back out to the overhead view) I like transforming my pet into all sorts of stuff. I'm glad it's an option.

--I hate hate hate hate hate Lizardman ARCHERS ARGHHH. I've been playing on the hardest level (with that one no-deaths box unchecked), and I have my personal force field (caster guy) maxed out (also have been more or less equally splitting skill points on magic and defense skill) and buying the bonuses to defensive spells on tier two when available, and so far facing even one or two of these yellow lizardman archer guys is a bigger ordeal than almost any other enemy in the game right now if I don't see every single shot they take at me.

--We need personal carrying capacity DLC like seen in Dragon Age. What do you say, $5 per tab? This is only really important in the lost dungeon maps (that dissapear when you exit) when both player and pet fill up rather quick. I hate to throw anything away.

--I haven't done the math but Dual Wielding wands seems like a waste at the moment

--If you create (but don't use) a portal to town with a scroll right before heading into a dangerous fight, will it still be there if you die and choose "return to town" as an option (in order to avoid death penalties)? I'll have to try this.

--I spend so much time equipping myself in lost dungeons that by the time I return to regular dungeons none of the loot interests me whatsoever and I question my motivations for continuing to slog through it.

No. Either they should patch for free as fixed game design or stick to their guns and make you throw shit away. But that's just bad DLC, you're thinking of there. Fuck Dragon Age.

So I finished what I guess is the main story line on hard. My destroyer is level 38. There is now a new set of dungeons and quests south of the town by the fishing hole. I assume this is the infinite dungeon?

I enjoyed the regular dungeons but not sure if I will continue on with the same character indefinitely. Great game overall though!

On the fishing note, is it possible to make the outer circle not expand back to near the starting position more than once or something? It's virtually impossible to mess up in fishing as is, so having to sit and wait for it to finally reach the inner circle feels tedious in an otherwise fast-paced game.

Ha, my bug was sort of fixed by restarting the game after getting a new portal guy quest. It's just that now the portal object to click on is like ten feet to the left of the purple portal graphic.

Also, I love fishing for some reason. It is kind annoying when you occasionally wind up having that minute-long wait for a bite, but generally when I get tired of waiting I just recast my line. My only complaint is that I wish I could fish more than once every seven or eight levels.

I just played through a level with 3 fishing holes in it. Got a few big fish at each. I'd be perfectly happy if there was at least one a level. Always nice to take a break from the killing for a bit.

I keep forgetting there's a main dungeon in this game. I've gotten my last ten levels (currently level 15) just doing all of the 1-10 maps I bought, haha. Also, I love the bits of the soundtrack I've heard thus far in my limited adventuring.

Wait, you can get regular items while fishing? Not just fish?

You can actually send your pet back to the merchant with its stuff, even in those bonus dungeons! You can't leave them but your pet can... somehow. So, no need for extra storage.

Conversely, not dual wielding anything else seems like a waste. I've been wondering about the balancing of two-handed weapons since they seem to do barely more damage than the single-handed equivalents -- and I get the dual-wielding skill bonus for those, plus the special effects from both weapons.

I believe it's deleted, as an extra penalty for using the free option.

Compared to the special dungeons, you should be able to fly rather than slog through the regular dungeons. They are like a vacation compared to the out-of-level monsters in those places.

Aside from the one-handed vs two-handed weapon thing, another balancing issue I wondered about are set items. Basically, they suck. In my experience, individual set items are barely as strong as simple enchanted items of comparable level, and a full set maybe lifts them to rare status. Shouldn't they start at rare and get better than unique when you have a full set? It's like at some point they decided to power up all the random items in the game but forgot to adjust the set items accordingly.

Have to show these off. By far the most impressive item I've found. Haven't taken them to the enchanter yet either, though I'm not sure how much he'll charge to add to this.

I don't know if it's something post patch or just the monster set in the demon area, but all of a sudden I'm having a hard time clicking on the monsters. Seeing as I'm playing a vanquisher this is a big problem as instead of shooting I go off running into them. I know I can use shift, but that is something I haven't felt like I've had to do until now.

Are you talking about levels 30-34? I've seen a few people complain about that in the final section.

Oh I forgot to mention: I don't like to sell items rated green and higher because I like to transmute them instead. I end up with both inventories full of rares and selling them to a merchant evokes my greedy negative side.

Yea I'm only now high enough level to start putting points in dual wield bonuses, I'm still busy trying to beef up defensive stuff and my green missile weapon skill whatever it is called.

Oh it's much much easier, I'm mentally slogging through it though because it doesn't get my heart racing like a slopey dungeon full of yellow lizardman archers two-three levels higher than me!

Well, I don't know if it's considered a regular item but I caught a fish that contained a gem.

It's strange that the vendor dungeons scale based on your level, but the main dungeon doesn't. I went on a few loot runs using maps and going back to the main dungeon is painfully boring now.

Hm, did not consider that. I'm going to burn through the main dungeon when I finally return, I guess.

Do the vendor ones actually scale? I thought the numbers offered after the ones you bought indicated appropriate levels. IE 1-10, 10-20, 12-25, etc...

I had no idea that there was scaling involved.

I did not think they scaled either. I thought you just had a one in ten chance in getting a level in each specific map's range.

I've found boots, which of course makes perfect sense.
