    Augusta National Admits Women Members

On Monday, chairman Billy Payne announced in a release from the club that Condoleezza Rice and Darla Moore have been invited to become members of the club, and have accepted, marking a breakthrough in a heated debate that has surfaced the last dozen or so years at the home of the Masters.

    Via the release ...
“This is a joyous occasion as we enthusiastically welcome Secretary Condoleezza Rice and Darla Moore as members of Augusta National Golf Club.

“We are fortunate to consider many qualified candidates for membership at Augusta National. Consideration with regard to any candidate is deliberate, held in strict confidence and always takes place over an extended period of time. The process for Condoleezza and Darla was no different.

“These accomplished women share our passion for the game of golf and both are well known and respected by our membership. It will be a proud moment when we present Condoleezza and Darla their Green Jackets when the Club opens this fall.

    Probably about time.

Good, they needed someone to help with the Masters decorations, maybe bring a covered dish.

And one of them is black!

The other lives on a South Carolina plantation that has been in her husband's family for 6 generations.

    So, something for everyone?

Welcome, Augusta National, to the 20th century!

Perhaps they'll even allow the ladyfolk to smoke and drive automobiles.

It's nice to have a place to get away, that was always one the draws to the Men Only clubs. You'd have a place where work was 'off limits' and no one was trying to impress the ladies.

I'm sure the busybodies will find something else to tear down, that's what busybodies do.

Personally, I don't go there, don't plan to go there, and accordingly don't care much about it.

Oh great, now if I want to golf at Augusta, I'm at risk of bear attacks.

    Thanks, stupid pressure groups.
