The Quest for Glory Series. I don't want a sequel, just a remake.
The original promises and concept of Dungeon Keeper were SO much more interesting and unique than the final product. Don't get me wrong, I liked Dungeon Keeper (both of them) - but they just didn't deliver on the potential.
Molyneux was good at PR, even back then ;)
At 123 posts (and counting), I'm never going to read all of the preceding, so I'll just list five that come to mind, in no particular order:
- Freespace 2
- The Neverhood
- SkyNET
- Full Throttle
- Sub Culture
The ones I can think of off the top of my head are:
Theme Hospital
Aerobiz Supersonic SNES
Ogre Battle SNES
Dungeon Keeper 2
Anachronox
Chaos Overlords
Alpha Protocol
I saw someone mentioned Cannon Fodder 3 a few days ago. Seems it's on sale (-15%) on Steam:

There was a game on the original XBox called Deathrow that I absolutely loved. Nobody bought it and we never saw a sequel. I can't imagine we ever will.
Outside of that, I'd also suggest Airborne Ranger from the long-ago Microprose days.
Of course, a sequel to Infocom's Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy probably wouldn't go over well in this day and age. But it's a shame we never saw the Restaurant at the End of the Universe.
And going with the theme of this thread by including games that actually did get a sequel, let me suggest Hidden & Dangerous. I loved the squad management aspect of that one.
Related, but not sequels to Ogre Battle. Very different gameplay. There was actually a second Ogre Battle, though:

Yeah, I'll go with:
Battletech: Crescent Hawks Inception
Darklands
Temple of Elemental Evil
Disciples of Steel: Chronicles of Cyhagan
Is it against the rules to add Jagged Alliance, through denial of anything that ain't turn-based being a true sequel? It is probably against the rules, but I've posted it now :o
Rescue on fractalus
Project: Space Station
D/Generation
Escape form the Planet of the Robot Monsters
Downhill Domination.
You're not alone, apparently:

I wonder if should cover this on my blog.
One more: G-Police
Oh, another sequel that'll never happen:
N.O.M.A.D.
One of my favorite space adventure games ever. Sigh.
Also, we'll likely never see another Rules of Engagement again. Ugh.
Obligatory: Master of Orion 2
I always felt that Start Control 2 was the spiritual successor to the two Starflight
games, even if it lacked the depth of the on-planet experience of those games.
Star Control 2
I only came here to say this.
I don't want a sequel for this as much as a remake for modern technology.
Archimedean Dynasty
Freespace 2
PS:T (Yes, TNO's story was done...but there are other stories and it's a fantastic setting)
