Qt3 Movie Podcast: The Amazing Spider-Man

So, uh, The Amazing Spider-Man. Yep. Thanks, Marc Webb. At the 48-minute mark, this week’s 3×3 is the best genetics in a movie. We don’t really know what to make of the subject either.

So did all three of you dislike the movie? The internet and the critics seem seriously split on this one. Lots of positive reviews from some critics like Ebert and EW's Lisa whatsername, and others, and lots of really negative and mixed reviews too.

Was the Qt3 movie podcast similarly split?

We pretty much agreed on the movie.

But I didn't get around to explaining my theory about why 75% of the reviews for this movie are positive! My theory is that a lot of reviewers have lower standards for comic book movies. Basically, they think, "Oh, well, the nerds and dorks will like this, so I'll give it one of those "good for what it is" thumbs up reviews".

Do you think they STILL do that? I mean, it's as good a theory as anything, because honestly I'm shocked that it's 75% positive, but you'd think after Iron Man and Avengers (and the brutal hatred that the Origins: Wolverine movie got) that they'd realize that even comic book nerds know a good movie from a bad one.

Except, ya know, for this one.

Its possible that this one just looks good after Spider-Man 3.

No synopsis! How very disappointing. This movie was superb synopsis fodder.

Very much so. The real reason was that my whirlwind rounds-making in L.A. that week left me no time to whip anything up in time to record. On the record, though, the actual movie is so hilarious it defies encapsulation.

I'll rub one out and post the yield if outcry reaches fever pitch...But the Dark Knight cometh.

Oh man. I'm so excited to be going into a big movie that I'm looking forward to with no knowledge about what's in it.

Well, that was technically true until this morning. Yesterday's Daily Show revealed to me the villain in the movie, and all for the sake of a lame joke too.
