LED Monitor Seems to be DOA?

I just got a SyncMaster SA850 which is a 1440P 27". I have it replacing my old 27" though that was was just a 1080P. Anyway, when I try to make the proper resolution the text gets all weird and it seems like it can't handle that, even though that is the recommended resolution in Windows and according to the manual specs. Did I get a bad monitor?

NVM I figured it out. Apparently the DVI cable it comes with is a different kind from the previous DVI. Problem solved!

Yep, you need dual-link DVI or displayport for resolutions over 1920x1200.

This is a pretty awesome monitor, now that the colors work. It is weird to see computing in full, vivid colors.

I still have to keep a 15" CRT around to check colour balance for printing ><
(Yea, yea, I could do it with an expensive LCD, but I don't have one)

You forget so quickly how bulky the blasted things were...
