They obviously want to fix chat and have rolled out a few things but it's not fixed everything but there are regular fixes weekly and 1.1 at the end of July which we are hoping sorts out the rest.
I'm loving the game just can't find time to play anything ATM.

No need to be defensive. There are plenty of great things about the game and I've probably written as much about those as any fanboy!

But as a showcase for Nvidia's new antialiasing tech, Secret World is most definitely a failure until Funcom gets around to actually, you know, supporting that feature.

I have no idea what TXAA even is; some sort of texture anti-aliasing or something? As long as it doesn't introduce more bugs when they turn it on, I really couldn't care much. The game looks pretty decent as it is. Well, except for the hair. No one ever gets hair right.

TXAA is a new anti-aliasing mode that's supposed to offer all the extra smoothiness of FXAA while being even less of a system hog (which is FXAA's thing). Only nVidia 600-series cards can do TXAA at present.

And for MrPerson: SLI works just fine.

Finally downed Nightmare difficulty Ur-Draug last night. That's a fun fight, with a hell of a lot going on. We found the best strategy on Nightmare is to just DPS through the dimensional shift. It's actually a lot easier than dicking around with the pillars, and the only real increased risk is getting bugged aggro on phase transitions (which will happen, and you will wipe).

We picked up 10.2 tank and healer pieces from it, which is nice, although really our biggest progression issue at the moment is bringing enough DPS. Funcom has one a good job making DPS valuable without leaning too heavily on strict DPS timers. A lot of fights at Nightmare have mechanics where if you're down a DPS, you're basically screwed.

Along with the DPS-through-reality-shift trick, my other takeaway is that Fever Pitch is RIDICULOUSLY good for Nightmare. I finally got around to testing it, and now my only problem is figuring out which passive to drop. Clearly I need to sucker one of my allies into bringing the Bloodsport (or any other always-on affliction).

I'll say again, I have NEVER seen dungeons this good in the first year of an MMOs life before. Never. Almost no trash, amazing opportunities for team synergy, and the dungeon boss fights are basically raid encounters in terms of mechanics, especially on Nightmare. Funcom has produced what I have wanted for years; 5 man "raids."

The loot system is pretty sweet too, with a combination of drops and tokens, an upgrade system for token loot, customizability with glyphs and signets, and a loot curve where progression is internal to a dungeon, rather than moving on to the next thing immediately. I would like to see some sort of daily token rewards (with a very low cap) for running random elites, once they get the LFG system in, so folks have incentive to help new players out.

Thanks. My new box has a 670 so assuming it will actually load the drivers that Nvidia will eventually release for TXAA (when installing a similar card in my old machine, before I returned the card, the 670 resolutely refused to work with the latest beta drivers Nvidia had), I guess I'll get to check it out.

I now have the mission, Dead in the Water. I believe this is the first "dungeon" that is in the game. Now I just need to figure out how to get a group together with the chat bugged like it is...

    Any tips with that?

LookingForGroup channel not working, or General?

Had "Hardly" any problems finding a group for that zone, but that was a week+1 ago, so maybe it is harder now.

Still; It is a disgrace that a game released in 2012 does not have better LFG tools, even though the game only has 5(?) dungeons (with various difficulty modes)

I got in once, but I admit I didn't try too hard after that. We wiped, so I never finished it. Hanging around the area where you get the quest should be a bunch of folks but generally spamming LFG seems to be what people do. Of course, it helps if you can sell yourself as a healer or tank type, as most folks are some flavor of DPS.

General only works for me if I manually add General to the subscribed channels. Dunno why, but there it is.

Appdata is a hidden directory though.

You need to press Organize when you are in C:Users\username\AppData and select Folder and Search options, select the"View" tab, and mark "Show hidden files and folders"

For those still on the fence about getting into the game, they're having a free weekend next weekend. If you had any sort of account for the game that's not currently active (buddy key, preorder, beta, whatever), it'll be activated. If not, you'll need to sign up on the main website.

    :D

Anyway I'll sign up and download the client, only later to realize I won't have time to play it next weekend, similar to how all of the SWTOR free weekends I missed out on.

I had a nice run-in with a GM today. Somehow, I fumbled using a casting kit to alter the appearance of my new QL-10 shotgun, and I managed to disassemble it instead. I petitioned, got a response within 10 minutes with both the weapon and the casting mold replaced. Evidently, there is a a once-per-30-days limit on this sort of thing. That seems pretty reasonable.

Reading the boards, CS experiences appear to be all over the map. Some folks, like myself, were pleasantly surprised. Others, not so much. It looks like they have some strict boundaries on what they can do, and issues like "fix my broken quest" have a narrower response range. I'm pretty pleased, though :)

So far my 4 GM tickets have all been solved within 10 minutes of petitioning. Last night was amazing in that, no sooner had I pressed send before a GM told me to log out for 10 minutes while he fixed my inventory.

Must say I really enjoy questing in this game.. and I usually just rush to get to max level. Now I'm just going through questing.. and working towards maxing my pistols and elemental builds to unlock some gear, while running around in a CDC Suit to protect me against the filth.

    Good stuff.

I was able to send a message to QT3 last night, but dont think anyone saw it... and not many people using it anymore methinketh.. Maybe they'll fix it next week.

Uh, yeah. Do you read this thread?

We've discussed at quite a bit of length that custom chat is not working. That would mean, then, that the qt3 channel is currently not working, since it is a custom chat channel. That would also explain the lack of people using it--because it's been broken for about 10 days now.

Who knows when they fix it, hence why I sent a message, but since a "/chat list qt3" only displayed me and someone else I reckoned that even if it DID work the chance of the message being seen was remote in that chat being what it is in TSW it is very easy to miss messages -- even when the channels work.

    So in other words:

Uh, Yea. I read this thread.

I think triggercut just wanted to make sure you know that plenty of people will use it when it works. Also, when you say you "sent a message" to the custom channel, you did no such thing since it doesn't work. :)

I think some of us are a bit prickly about the situation because it gives the impression to folks who don't know any better that none of us are playing the game anymore, or that we're a bunch of rude players. That absolutely wasn't the case. We were just unwittingly cut off from each other because the dipwads at Funcom can't get their act together in a few very important ways.

I've had two petitions put in so far. The first one involved a broken quest that wouldn't progress. Unfortunately, petitioning is a two click process- I'd sent a few polite ones without the second submit button pressed and was waiting for a while. After 40 minutes I sent a snarky one properly and it was only when I sent it that I realised that the other ones didn't get through. The GM replied in about 2 minutes time asking about my difficulties with getting service. That was awkward. I apologised and the quest was fixed in about 30 seconds. Yesterday I put in another petition for a quest that I broke by deleting a quest item from my inventory. The GM was assisting in about 30 seconds and had everything fixed in another 30 seconds. The only thing wrong with my encounters with Funcom's customer support was my own ignorance.
I've rerolled an illuminati alt with an eye to flipping a few facilities in Fusang (it's totally Templar dominated 90% of the time on my server). Just playing the start to Kingsmouth made me realise how well they did this game and how much fun I had with it.
For anyone starting I'll point out the obvious- movies related to the story quest cannot be replayed so don't click through them just because you're impatient. I was in a group and clicked through a few because others were waiting- I wish I hadn't now.
