At the point I'm at, disassembling an item returns somewhere in the neighborhood of seven base quality crafting material of the sort used to craft it. All the toolkits require the next quality level material up, imperfect. Base quality converts to imperfect at 5:1. It took me all of today to scrounge enough weapon metal to craft a single QL3 blood focus.

For the love of all that is holy, can someone please explain to me what the holy hell is going on with that xp bar???????

I get that the blue and yellow relate to AP and SP, but how? What's with the color segments and the color-coded bugs at certain points? That stupid thing is driving me freakin' crazy.

Tom, the bar has three equal sections. When you cross the first and second, you get an AP. When you cross the third (the end), you get an AP and an SP and the bar resets.

I actually play with the bar turned off, though.

Oh, that actually makes sense now that I look back through screenshots.

How did I miss that? Is that documented anywhere? If not, how did you get so smart that you figured that out?

Death and the associated repairs -- the amount grows as your gear improves, but they need to make the slope steeper. 'Mounts,' here run speed increases, also cost a lot (100k/500k and I think the third one is a million).

Overall, they need a deeper pax drain.

Where do you get run speed increases? I know there are skills that do that, but I haven't seen any for sale.

They are on one of the gaggle of vendors in the faction HQ; at least that is where they are for the Templars. 100k Pax for 62.5%, 500k for 75%, and 1m for 100%. (Edit:Confirmed)

I just ignore the bar. Every now and then the game gives me a piece of candy, and I am happy.

That run speed info is handy. I had no clue there were upgrades. Amongst other things. The game could use a little more tutorial effort.

Yeah I don't even look at the bar. I should really just disable it all together.

I did two othe investigate quests and neither were 1/10th as hard as the first one. Man that one is a bitch.

I seem to get slowdowns the longer i stay with the a clothing store open. I can play the game on max settings in combat or in kingsmouth with no problem. Then i go back to check out different clothing items and after a while (during which i am previewing various items and checking out different vendors) the game literally slows to a crawl, until i restart and then i can browse the store without any slowdowns again.

You know about pressing X to run, right?

    besides that, no idea.

Edit: Someone mentioned upthread that there was a Qt3 Templar guild? really? And no-one told me about it? What am I supposed to think about that?! Anyways - what is it? Not seeing much Qt3 chatter either in Qt3...keeping it inguild?

There will be a merchant in your main faction base. The Illuminati one is on the main floor of the (super-secret!) Brooklyn facility.

If somebody here is like me, and enjoy solving misteries but not much killing mobs. PvP is a fast way to get some dumb levels.

You find the zerg, and just follow the zerg around, adding your damage to the other people. It seems a cheap way to gain some levels so mobs in the main game are less a nuisance to the detective things.

Yeah - its getting "balanced" this patch now, so expect that to be cut down upon big time, because wow you get big xp there.

Wait, you think I'm asking about the run speed increase without even knowing there's a run speed? :)

As for that XP bar, I find it's pretty significant knowing when the next points are coming in and just what you're getting. Early on, yeah, a point here and a point there is easy enough to spend. Once you start having to make tough choices with your skill points and ability points, it matters. Especially since skills points are tied to gear. There's nothing quite so frustrating as finding a sweet piece of equipment that you can use because you just spent six points you'd saved on something else.

I briefly peeked at some of those, but they seemed to require some sort of faction grind or PvP tokens that I hadn't really been earning. Are there other money sinks back at the home base besides the clothes?

Yeah, I certainly didn't know about the "mobility trainers" until I gained a rank with my faction and was then informed that I had access to them. Then I gained another rank which started off what I assume is a faction specific mission. Then I had to log for bed. Stupid sleep.

Tell me about it. My power went out one minute after I got home friday night and likely won't be back on until late monday night. So much for early access.

The faction grind seems to happen without noticing. If you check your character screen in one section, I think the one where you chose which title to display, you'll see faction xp. I think it comes from story quests but I'm halfway to the next level and I've done stuff all. Pretty sure you only need one faction level to unlock the option to buy mobility upgrades.

I'm not an MMO guy so take this with a grain of salt but I'm hating the controls. Spoiled by normal rpg setups I guess.

I'm glad I'm doing the early entry but I'm almost certainly going to cancel my preorder and just wait until the base game is cheaper or f2p. The story/writing is nice and seeing other people roaming around is a pleasant change from single player rpgs but somehow its not catching my interest as much as I thought it might.

I am pretty sure i remember seeing an experience requirement under the faction ranking so i'd guess it is based off of that.

Sadly, i've spent all of my money buying clothes though.

Faction grind was probably the wrong term. I'm talking about the tokens you need to buy stuff. There are sequins for each of the worlds, as well as black and white Venice tokens from multiplayer, and some sort of black bullion that I have no idea where it comes from.

But, yeah, that little faction menu has regular rewards that include buyables in London, and those only cost regular credits/spacebucks. I somehow ended up with a couple of nifty bits of Templar clothes that I think came from leveling up my Templaricity.

One tip that I saw that seems to be a real thing. If you have your browser open in the background make sure there are no pages with flash running (youtube ect) because you will take a hit in your game performance. I thought it might be bullshit but today I noticed that my FPS wasn't nearly what it was yesterday. I dicked around with the settings a bit but nothing brought it back up. I alt tab over to Chrome and sure enough I had left a youtube video open from last night. I close that page and sure enough my FPS shoots back up to where it should be.

I REALLY need to make more money. The clothing options are pretty awesome. I had 150K and I just blew through 25k of it getting a few items here and there. They have a lot of items that are in the 90-110k range too.

I'm guessing that the quality of sprint upgrades is gated with faction level, meaning when you first get access, you can only buy the cheapest?
