Fark maybe?
What are they? I like the idea of a personalized link aggregator but I kind of hate Reddit itself. Biggest argument against democracy ever.

Seconding Metafilter.
Something about either Metafilter's design or coloring makes my brain want to stab itself repeatedly. :/
Yeah, metafilter is fucking hideous; it's like someone replaced my monitor with a mirror.
Honestly, I've found that setting up a reddit account only subscribed to the more tolerable subreddits lets me get over seething rage when it threatens to send me away from the site forever. A lot of smaller niche subs are super friendly, helpful, and content-rich (TrueReddit, Wicked_Edge, and Games come to mind) compared to the sprawling masses like Askreddit, IAMA, and Politics.
That said, I do wish that the site would at least revel in its nature. It is one of the best examples of pure democracy in existence, for all the good and ill that comes of it. When I see shit like the /r/Android mods trying to ban the asking of questions about Android because /r/AndroidQuestions exists (with a couple thousand inactive subscribers), I get a bit ragey. When they knock out questions about individual carriers, pictures of homescreens, etc. for similar reasons, I lose faith in humanity. Love it for what it is or quit's my motto.
Says the guy who enjoys TrueReddit and AskScience. Hypocrisy ahoy!
Yeah, I too only subscribe to certain subreddits, but even then I can only take reddit in small doses.
Hacker News is pretty great, but much narrower than something all-encompassing like reddit.
Fark...
Bo knows.
