    Pepsi Syndrome on DV6000

Spilled diet Pepsi NEXT to my HP DV6000, and the keyboard stopped working. I swear, like 2 drops might have hit the keyboard. I could have seeped in underneath I suppose. Plugged old iMac keyboard into the USB, and it it works, but why? why?

Anyone ever nurse a laptop keyboard back from the dead?

I managed to fix my Model M after a liquid spill. I spilled beer on it, so I immediately unplugged it, rinsed it with water, then set it standing up on its side so the water could drain out and just left it sitting for a month. A week or so probably would have been enough, but I didn't really want to take chances.

When you're working with laptop hardware, the important things are: don't force anything and remember where each screw goes. Google "dv6000 service manual" and the official manual should be the first result.

If that doesn't work, the good news is you can get a replacement keyboard for around $10, and it's fairly easy to replace.

You have 2 choices. Remove the kb, clean well with water, dry for a couple of days, then try again. Or new KB.

Dells make this fairly easy, don't know about HPs. In my experience HP are also going to gouge you on the parts.

Hair dryer for 15 minutes and an overnight "rest" appears to have worked.
