All sounds kind of feudal doesn't it. The owner of an apartment in England commonly owns the leasehold to the apartment while the freehold applies to the building as a whole, and may or may not be owned by the same people. Technically, you only get to live in your flat for the term of the leasehold, but they are inevitably renewed if the 200 year term happens to come up while you're in it I think.
Historically significant buildings can be 'listed', which has some tax advantages for the owner but means the building can't be altered in ways which change it significantly. Grade 1 are the more important, grade 2 a bit more every-day.
That terrrace in Bristol is seen as very impressive (among people who've never been to Edinburgh.)

Too. Many. Rectangles.
Yeah I agree, that's a pretentious number of rectangles. Some of the trim and accents are nicely done but then you have parts that look like the outside of a modern prison.
The tv is too high up the wall. But, yeah, I dig modern.
I'm not really satisfied with Real Estate Porn unless there's something secret to open up:

These are all nice places but I couldn't possibly settle for less than a $19million penthouse inside of an enormous clocktower.
Obnoxious hosted but drool-worthy video here
That's down from $23.5m, so apparently it's not selling.
I've been considering this, but I'm concerned that the butlers pantry is a little bit on the small side.

Ahh, woops.
The Brooklyn clock tower would make a good lair for a Batman villain... Clock King? That 5th ave penthouse is more my style but $65M?...I could see paying 25-30 mil..not 65.
This bizarre and unique "tree house" would be a great place for a private office:

The askew lines make me ill but I like the outdoor shower.
