I was looking at the paradox sale and I could have sworn that Sword of the stars 2 was a steam game. But there is not mention of it on the description and I can't find it on steam anymore.

edit: My mistake, they moved the steam requirement on the amazon page further down for it.

    Amazon - Bioshock 1 & 2 Bundle

$7.49 will nab you both Bioshock games.
You get to choose whether you want it on Steam, or not. I think you still get the annoyance of Securom Internet DRM, in both cases.

    Non-Steam versions:

    Steam Versions

Also, this is the best pricing for these games EVER. At least, that I've seen.

I don't care about Securom; I just want to be able to play Bioshock 2 without Games for Windows Live preventing me from saving.

Is it possible to gift Amazon games? I really want Crusader Kings 2 but they won't sell outside the USA. Is someone is willing to gift it - I can paypal it back.

Just add a US billing address to your amazon account and it will let you complete the transaction - just did it myself and I'm based in UK

It worked. I'm surprised Visa approved it but what do I care.

Gamersgate VOID ad supported free gaming has kicked off.

    http://www.gamersgate.com/void

The catalog is weak though. There are only a few games I find interesting, all of which I've already played or own in my backlog, e.g. JA2, Risen, Elven Legacy. They say they will be expanding it over time.

The way it works is that you download the game and have to watch some ads when you launch it. Sounds like after that you can play uninterrupted. You get a limited number of game slots. Once you fill a game with a slot it is locked in for a period, you cannot replace it for a certain amount of time. You can upgrade or buy more slots with blue coins which is their currency, which can be bought directly or accumulated as rewards from game purchases (so that aspect isn't really free). The upgrades give various perks like allowing you to replace the game sooner, etc.

Precursors is $10 on GamersGate right now. I've been meaning to do a let's play of this game for ages, it's such a great summation of the wonder and terror that a flawed and damned humanity can offer. Check out the fixes and patches at RPG Watch.

Mount and Blade Warband for $5 on GamersGate.

I'm giving it a shot now. Thank goodness for VPN programs! You start out with one available slot. You can get more slots for 10,000 blue coins ($10?). The cool down period is 14 days and the selection isn't great but it's better than a kick in the balls. I'm giving it a shot now with Space Empires 4.

Oh the first "commercial" is fucking awesome! LOL
With this and the CK2 bits, I think Paradox really knows how to throw together some awesome friggen clips!

Also available, at least for store pickup if your nearby store has it, for PC (which is what I bought just now). Thanks!

Some excellent games (albeit one still in the making), and for a dirt cheap price: if you don't buy this, you don't like puppies. You don't want anyone accusing you of hating puppies, now do you?

I only really wanted CK2 and SOTS2, but at that price they're a bargain.

    Added to my backlog.

Crusader Kings 2 and Sword of the Stars 2 each indivdually are worth the $12 you'll spend on the package.

That said, be aware that the package represents hundreds of hours of gaming with a pretty steep learning curve (we're talking Paradox here), so if you already have a sizeable backlog of gaming to slog through you may not be doing yourself a favor by picking these up...

Yeah, that's the conclusion I came to as well. Heck, I'd drop 12 bucks on a meal that's gone in minutes.

Is Sword of the Stars 2 really worth $12? It sounds like the game is still being heavily worked on to get it to the state it should have been on release. Can you seriously recommend it to anyone but a Sword of the Stars 1 fan?

I'm aware of that, $12 for the package is a no-brainer, but if I was only getting it for SOTS2 because I owned the other games or had no interest in them, would it still be worth it?

    An appropriate question.

I just bought it because I've wanted CK2 for a while and this is the cheapest I've seen it. But I knew I would pick up SOTS2 eventually so why not now?

I can't tell you if it's worth it yet obviously.

I'd say yes, it's worth it, but with the caveat about time investment: even being a SotS1 fan, there's a *lot* of new ground to cover in terms of learning how to play. The manual will be updated once it's all done, so don't count on that being a tremendously accurate tool in the meantime. That said, it should be done in the fairly near future.
