Company of Heroes complete for 9.99 is an absolute steal. Potentially even worth buying extra copies of gifts, just to be ready in case you want to play with a friend who doesn't have it in the future.

How necessary are the expansions? I remember kinda enjoying the demo of Company of Heroes back in the day, but I wasn't really doing RTS games at the time.
First expansion (Opposing Fronts) adds the British and Panzer Elite as well as two campaigns. Second expansion adds three campaigns (one is a mini-campaign) and a total of nine units for the other factions that you can swap into their arsenals (for example, an amphibious scout vehicle for the Panzer Elite that replaces their Kettenkrad scout). The first is far more value than the second in terms of expanding your options, as only a few of the extra units in the second expansion are really worthwhile.
Definitely the first one, but use discretion on the second if you're finding $10 a hard sell for the whole package.
Is it wrong that I want to buy that CoH bundle even though I already purchased it through Direct2Drive/Gamefly?
Yes it is wrong. Stop buying everything over and over again. Don't you have to buy gum instead or something?

Goddammit, Rubin, it's bad enough that you're willing to kill the industry by buying cheap games, but to do it twice? That's just salt in the wound.
Ok, I need some quick information. Gamersgate has Batman Arkham Asylum for $5, but it says 'Games for Window Live'.
Honestly I don't know anything about Games for Windows Live except people have complained about it. What's the deal with it? and should it affect my buying decision?
GFWL, when implemented, governs saved games, achievements (which, if you use your Xbox Live account, count towards your Gamerscore and the PC version of a game is a separate 1000 points from the 360 version), multiplayer, updates, and potentially DLC depending on where you get it. It's a little clunky, but personally I haven't had any issues with it in a long time and I like combining my achievements with my Xbox account. Other people have reported issues with saves being lost, GFWL breaking, etc. If you're really that concerned there are ways to disable it, especially for Batman, which does not have multiplayer.
I've got 2 games, both on Steam, that use GFWL: Dawn of War 2 and Batman: Arkham City. After the initial setup of my GFWL account and the patching that occurs, I haven't experienced any of the problems that I've read about. When I start up these games, there is a momentary pause as the system logs me in and then I'm on my way to playing. Obviously results vary from user to user. Good luck if you decide to try it out.
I took the plunge and went ahead and bought Batman:AA GotY edition for 5 bucks. It's too good a game to pass up for that price. I played it on the 360 previously, but it just looks sooooo much better on the PC.
It also might save your life, because if you try to patch the base game up to playability you'll be in danger of having an aneurysm.
This means you have either:
1. A really high resolution monitor for your PC.
2. An Nvidia card, so you can play Batman:AA with PhysX stuff on.
My PC monitor has the same resolution as my 360 monitor and TVs, and I have an ATI card, so even though I have played through both the 360 and PC versions all the way through, it was a virtually identical experience for me. I'll tell you what, next time I buy a new PC, I'm buying an Nvidia card, even if it costs me a lot extra.
I'm still not buying a big high resolution monitor though. I'd rather stick with the same 1080p monitor. Why give my PC rig extra work?
GOG is offering 1C games 50% off this weekend. The usual suspects. Good chance to pick up Cryostasis if you haven't already.
I'm running it on an ATI Radeon HD 5800 card so no Phys X stuff unfortunately. The monitor I'm using is a 26 inch HDTV connected to my computer with an HDMI cord. I run all my PC games at 1360x768 and they all look uniformly great. The only exception I've found is Magic the Gathering 2012 which doesn't support that resolution for some reason, but still looks decent enough.
The 360 games look like they've been run through a filter compared to the PC games. I can't see the same level of detail that I see when playing on my PC.
We have a whole thread dedicated to hating GFWL.
For me, it's been mixed. Most of the time, it's a non-issue. I log in and that's it. I have had a couple of games that have been absolutely awful to get working because of GFWL.
I personally have had only one problem with GFWLive so far. The horror stories on the internet sound much worse than my little problem though. My problem was that in Batman:AA I could never connect to Live. Every other GFWLive game I played never had this problem or any other. I like getting Xbox Live achievements on the PC, I like chatting with my friends who are playing on the Xbox (it's much easier to type long chat messages on the PC). Sometimes they convinced me to stop playing something on the PC and join them in some game they were playing on the Xbox, so I like that cross platform communication a lot.
I'm looking for how to get back to the video settings menu on Batman:AA. I initially input my settings and now I don't see a way to get back to that screen, any tips?
