Waiting for a sale and a few patches. I was also going to wait until I upgraded, but it appears that it will run fine on my aging 9800GTx+ and 1280x1024 LCD.

Also, I still need to find time to finish up the last part of FONV--might as well do that first.

Bought nothing from the last two Steam sales. Saved enough to be able to buy it on Steam.

I thought I would play Oblivion first for $19. And I never pay $59 for any game. If I get it for X-Mas I will probably start playing it in the spring or if I don't I will wait and buy it when the price comes down.

Also because of the patch factor.

Because my only options are the PS3 or an iMac via bootcamp. The PS3 version is apparently completely broken, despite Bethesda's claims to the contrary, and I doubt the iMac can handle it.

I also just finished (finally) Oblivion, so I'm not really interested in even looking at another Bethesda game at the moment.

I can report that you should be safe after a short break, unless you're talking 200+ hours in Oblivion. They changed just enough that it's completely tolerable. I was surprised. Only once every few hours do I look at something and wonder if I'm still playing Oblivion.

I was around 200 hours total - and while I love their games, I have no desire to play another open-world game anytime soon. I'll work through some of my backlog games that have a bit more structure to them.

Yeah time for a break then. I played Nehrim and Shivering Isles recently, but I also squeezed in DXHR, Dragon Age 2, and another playthrough of The Witcher 2. The variety helped me get ready for Skyrim.

I stopped playing because resistances are non-functioning. Hooray for getting >80% of my life taken off from one blast of dragon breath.

Playing on Steam? According to the news, it's been updated and resistances now work correctly.

Because I'm sure I'll win it on Steam.

I'm actually shocked it haven't happened yet!

Not playing because I started Oblivion (for $6) a few weeks ago. Still not sure I'm feeling the game, though. I loved Fallout 3 but I think I had more empathy for the psuedo-modern setting than fantasy.

I AM PLAYING IT HAR HAR! Almost 70 hours in and only about 1/4 of the map explored. Gonna be a loooong slog here, but it MUST BE DONE.

Wanted to wait for a couple of patches, then saw $5 Oblivion. Now I'm 40 hours in to that and haven't even started the main quest line. Skyrim can wait.

Because I doubt it'll run on my laptop. Oblivion runs fine, but I assume Skyrim won't, as it has a different engine.

That's not actually true, it's a tweaked version of the Oblivion engine and is pretty modest in the system demands. I've got a friends running it on low on his laptop.

Your note prompted me to check the system req. and my laptop comes close but no cigar. The CPU is only 1.6Ghz and the game needs at least 2.

That's fine. By the time I have a machine that'll run it, it'll be $5 on Steam.

Yeah Fallout actually runs much better on my laptop than Oblivion does-I love that trend in PC gaming! I hope it continues for Skyrim as I don't see myself getting a new PC for at least a couple more years.

If I accidentally deleted her latest save, I'd really regret it.

Once it's cheap on PC, I'll probably pick it up for myself. Until then, I'm enjoying Witcher 1 and DA2 and FNV and Metro 2033 and everything else released in the last couple of years that can be picked up crazy cheap now.

Because there are no other games in the world to me at the moment, except for SWTOR.

secondary- I have never enjoyed any of the previous games so likely hood of me enjoying this one isn't high. Too many things to do and too little direction leads to me staring at the screen making duh noises then closing the game.

$60 LOL. There is such a wealth of games right now. SR3 won the 'SR3 vs Skyrim' matchup... partially because it wasn't $60. I don't need Skyrim to be $20 before I pick it up, but I am not paying $60 for it. I'll probably grab it during the inevitable steam winter sale.

Sad PS3 owner with no Xbox and broken computer is sad. I really wanted to play this, flaws and all, but my New Vegas copy is completely borked 40+hours in. The box is on the shelf, mocking me. Fallout 3 I completed, but not without it hard freezing the box several times a play session. Only games that have ever hard locked my PS3 were Gamebryo engine games. Putting all the effort in to love and explore a world, then never reaching a satisfying conclusion is just too crushing to deal with again.

No, you just date someone else. :)

Personally, I just don't have time to fall into another Elder Scrolls game eight now.

I liked Morrowind but never bought Oblivion because it was less than beloved here on Qt3. I was waiting to see what the final crowd verdict on Skyrim was.

    There is no crowd.

    There is only you...
