Skyrim: Why aren't you playing yet?

If I can't stop the flood of useless extra Skyrim threads covering the front page, I figure I'll poke fun at them instead.

My reason: my backlog is already so full that I really can't justify spending $60 for a game that I wouldn't play until it would've been on sale on Steam twice.

Because I don't like being a paid late beta-tester. If I wanted to beta-test, or do QA work, I'd find that kind of job. I don't buy games to do it. I'll pick this one up when I see it on sale for $39.99 or less. Considering the current state of the game, no thanks, Bethesda, not now.

I actually got it for my little brother. Poor kid's still at home and too young to work, so he doesn't really have a games budget.

I hate the art style, and medieval-esque fantasy settings rarely do much for me.

Do you wait to date someone until after they've had several years of therapy and substantial cosmetic surgery?

I got it for myself and for my 12-yr-old and while I'm loving it he, being OCD and linear in his approach to new games that have retro or retroish roots, decided to fire up and complete Morrowind and then Oblivion first. Same thing happened when DC Universe became free and I set that and LOTRO up for him -- he decided to try out WOW instead.

Waiting for it as a Christmas gift.
If I don't get it, will wait until there's a 2012 GOTY edition on Steam.

Got stuck playing Dark Souls, and it's been hard to pick up. I finally figured out that I'll enjoy Skyrim much more if I go pure magic, since I won't have to deal with the clunky combat system as directly.

Skyrim took third in the "which game to buy right now" contest, after Saints Row 3 and Arkham City. I'm asking for it for Christmas, and if that doesn't happen, a Steam sale. The longer I wait, the more mods are available at release.

New Vegas is one of the things in my backlog. I'm slowly making my way through it right now.

Same, except it was SR3 and Dark Souls.

Also, I think I want actual snow outside to help with the immersion. I'm considering putting my tv in front of the big window and setting up a chair outside to take it to the next level. Wireless 360 controller FTW.

Lots of backlog. Clearing them up. Hopefully by then, Skyrim is $15.

I'm working my way through backlog games and if I start playing this I'll probably lose another 2-4 months on any catch up I was doing.

It's terribly hard to hold out, but I'm hoping to wait until the GOTY edition with all the DLC. I don't know if I can wait a year though...

God intended backlogs to be grown and nurtured, not cleaned up.

I purchased it a while back but haven't started it up yet due to my WoW addiction. My vacation starts this coming Monday, so I'll be damned if I can't find some time to play it then!

Oblivion bored and annoyed me, and I'm not going to pay $60 for the chance that all the ZOMG THIS IS SO MUCH BETTAR is true, especially when I'm already dedicating half of my free time to Football Manager and the other half to Saints Row and Eschalon.

I get to play it on occasion but my wife has been getting the lion's share of time with it. I think I have about 16 hours invested. She's probably got close to 90. We have it for the 360, and I picked up Oblivion goty off steam for a song and have put maybe 30-35 hours into that but I'm just not feeling Oblivion so much because I find Skyrim so much more fun. I will see that war mage styled characters seem better suited to Oblivion though, not having to unequip anything to cast spells.

Just don't buy the PS3 version and you're fine.

Because I'm cheap and don't care for fantasy settings enough to pay full price. Call me when it's going for less than $25.

Because I'm even cheaper & only pay full price for games that start with the letters "Sid Meier's" or "World of Warcraft:" Once it hits $20, though, I'm totally adding it to my backlog that includes Morrowind & Oblivion, just for completion.
