Oh cool, thanks.
He gives you regular triangle things. Man, come on, I can read :P It's just that the dynamic cost change that the game did wasn't obvious to me.
Is it bad I just realized that once you see your hand first turn, you know exactly what your second turn's hand is going to be?
To be fair, this is something I would have figured out pretty quickly had I been playing with actual cards.
In any case, the 5/0, 3/2 first two turns seems really preferable in most cases to the 4/1, 4/1 first two turns.
forge, did I lose you from our game? You're showing up red in my game list.
Justin Fletcher did a good job of squeezing all hope out of our game. I thought I was doing something, but he quickly let me know that I wasn't. I don't think I scored 60 points.
I think we have our very first Ascension ragequit. :)

I just noticed this on boardgamegeek: another tournament!
http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/6831...cup-tournament
Registration is open until the 21st.
OK. I just wanted to make sure you didn't somehow get kicked. [Insert ongoing complaint about lack of chat and leaderboards]
Oh, I'm sure you'll return the favor, because I've been on that side of the ledger many, many times. There are just those matches where you get into a flow. It almost feels like the same kind of runs you get playing pinball, when, for whatever reason, you're suddenly in the zone and everything is magical.
It doesn't last. :)
Jason Cross, sorry to have to bail on our game last night, but I had friends arrive. If this game had a chat function, I would have let you know, since we're at the crucial last few turns. Anyway, your move. Good luck*!
And on a related note, I just got to the play the tabletop version of this game for the first time. The bookkeeping gets a little unwieldy, but it sure is nice being able to see those great cards up close and personal. What a great game.

* Not really. I hope you get a bad draw!
VegasRobb annihilated me earlier today. I think I spent fifteen turns on a row stuck buying Heavy Infantry and Mystics while he killed and purchased everything worth killing and purchasing in the middle.
As much as that game sucked, I love it when I'm taking a turn, notice that the person I'm playing is actually online, and we finish the game in real time. Ascension is definitely at its best when played quickly, especially when you're getting your ass handed to you, and the server does a great job of making that transition seamless.
My gamecenter id is Congestion. Add me and we'll play!
I was sent here by two people. Is this thread fun?
This thread is at least medium fun.
Good enough for me!
Thread review: 8.
Metacritic score as of today: 8.
100% fun.
Looks like I missed the tournament, but sign me up for multiplayer. Secret agent code name: unprolix. Secret agent avatar: Void Initiate (I think...the dude with the pointy hat).
I'll play Carcassonne too; I'm easy that way.
Spasticon, MonkeyPunky and some of our friends played some 6-player games of Ascension with the expansion Saturday night, it was a blast, I can't wait for the expansion to come out for the phone. They have optional rules for team play and we did a 2v2v2 game that turned out great. I built a life deck that was just sick.
Now that I see hypnotoad is seventimessix -- I swear, you people and your silly names -- I have a little more context.
You got a strong early start scarfing up those mechana constructs. I worried I was making the wrong choice pushing military in response, but it really paid off when the Avatar of the Fallen showed up at the end. Phew.
Good game, Mr. Timessix!

Great game, vegasrobb! I thought the unprecedented winning streak would continue, but it was not to be. The last two turns were pretty exciting though!
Yeah, doesn't get much closer than that. I figured you had it hands down after snagging the Avatar.
