Well, I can't kick a Fomorian in the head when he's standing up! What do you expect? And I thought us small nations would be stronger if we united under my banner. :p

More seriously, I would like to note that you weren't down when I sent that DoW.

That heavily depends on your definition of "we" and "winning". :)

HA HA!!!! WE WON!!! The armies of Pangaea have been scattered to the winds! White centaurs were no match for thunder strikes and shadow blasts!

Many Barghests fell in this momentous battle, but we held the day, and all of our kings survived to kill more of the pesky woodlanders listening to their improvisational jazz.

I'm telling you, guys, I'm going to make Pangaea a juicy target. Start your vulching!

Yeah, I'd kind of gambled on you starting to raid, with your Kings' sailing ability and that huge pile of sneaky big dogs of yours. Wrong guess, I should've moved out. However, my resources are far from being exhausted, while your army has gone poof.

And speaking of juicy targets, about 25 Fomorian Kings are outside the capital at the moment waiting to be attritted (attritioned? whatever.) into nothingness. That leaves how many in there?

    Exactly.

My experience era-wise amounts to one MA game and Foss, so I'm with Nate here: LA is fine.

EDIT: Mods I can do without.

I'd much prefer if the nation-to-provinces ratio were a little (or a lot) higher than in Foss, though.

    RAND game

LA it is. I will send out nation assignments tomorrow and allow about a week for pretender creation.

Are you also going to provide info about the map? I'd like to know its size before I build a pretender.

Assuming no more players sign up, we'll use the only good five-player map I know of, available here: http://www.mediafire.com/?5jeh8h3rbjht5m4

Will probably use the trusty old Six Lands if another player signs up.

Perfect timing. We've got that whole Labor Day weekend thing going on here, so I'll actually have time to sit down and plan out a decent pretender.

Are we banning any nations or going with the full gamut on random?

All nations except pure underwater ones are in the pool. So R'lyeh is exluded.

Six Lands has those arbitrary colored area issues. Well-balanced, though. And Bering is the best seven player map I've ever seen, though that has water.

What are the most balanced maps out there for each number of players?

RAND = random, anonymous, no diplomacy. You receive a random nation, and the nation each player is piloting is secret. Don't reveal it to anyone, and do not hint about it (seemingly innocuous stuff like posting here that you have submitted your pretender could allow other players to guess which nation you are playing by going to the llamaserver site). Messaging other nations is forbidden (including sending gems and items). Name your pretender with the same name as your nation (e.g. Pangea). If and when you are eliminated, your identity is revealed and you can post an AAR. Also, fight to the end and do NOT go AI without talking to me first.

    Game settings:

    Era: Late
    Map: TBD, depends on signups.
    Renaming: Off
Hosting: llamaserver We'll start out with 48 hour hosting and move up as required. Any requests for extension go to me via PM, don't post it in the thread.
    Other settings: Standard
Mods: None (as long as the game remains small)
    Player skill level: Any

    Player list:
    Nate
    pyrhic
    tenuki
    Sharaleo
    Lyfdel

Still open for signups for a couple of more days. I'm also taking votes for which era we should play in.
A bit late to the party but I'd like to join if still possible? You will recognise me easily, I'm the guy who is really not good at the game :)

LA is fine by me, no mods is good, no strong views on the map

LA is fine, map is fine - though six lands is getting a little old and would prefer another if possible, but it's not a biggie...

Would also suggest GPs server, but not sure how everyone else feels about that...

ddtibbs also wants into the RAND game. Now we're seven, I'll look around for an appropriate map.

While we're talking about RAND, anyone have any qualms about having the magic set to difficult? I've never played with difficult magic, so if it upsets the balance or anything, i have no problems with standard....

I'm against it. Difficult research means that bless is the only way to go => sucks to be a non-bless nation.

I think difficult research is a must in larger RAND games, to give nations that aren't lategame powerhouses a chance. Don't think this game is large enough to warrant it though.
