That's because Netflix does not require PSN sign-in. Just an internet connection.

Also, it's just PSN. Station.com stuff like Vanguard and DC Universe are up and running.

I assumed it was at least tied to PSN in some way or another due to the fact it requires you to 'sign in'.

EDIT: Yea, I get an error when trying to sign in now and I'm unable to actually watch anything so it does indeed require a PSN sign in. Apparently I used it before the network went down last night.

Yeah, I've never been able to watch Netflix while not being able to sign into PSN. It happens more frequently than I'd like, because PSN updates so often, I inevitably miss an update, and suddenly wonder why Netflix isn't working. Oh, it's because I need to download the latest PSN update so that I can sign into PSN. Of course. Because why wouldn't you update PSN every freakin' month?

Really? Vanguard was down for me earlier, and the SOE forums are all still down.

I was talking with a friend last night playing Portal 2 on PS3, who didn't seem to be having any issues. I asked him how Steam was holding up, he said it was fine, and we even spent some time talking about the particulars of Steam on the PS3, like how you chat (apparently Steam includes a built-in keyboard overlay). I forget exactly what time it was, but everything seemed A-OK at the time.

When it prompts you to sign-in, ignore it. It should continue to load Netflix.

That doesn't work unfortunately, I just tried. Everything hangs while buffering. Blah! I had something I wanted to watch tonight.

Netflix is no big deal, because I can just use that on the 360, but it sucks that I can't use Hulu Plus now. I was planning on watching Arrested Development tonight. WTF, Sony.

Arrested Development is on netflix for a while, or did it get pulled from the instant watch?

EQ2 has remained playable, though the website has been down. These are probably a bit harder to hit since they might have to be hit individually, whereas PSN is more unified.

Really? PSN errors shouldn't prevent Netflix from loading. It's tough like that.

    Just checked and:

My money is on a DDos by Anonymus. The login servers are down it seems but my friend could update his Rock Band 3 on the PS3 just fine.

I haven't been able to access http://www.giantbomb.com/ for the entire day either, is it just me?

Razgon, I got a message on the updater that the Vanguard servers were down, but I was able to log in and run around the starting area. I was also able to patch DC Universe, so I assumed that was up and running.

It could be that Sony is gradually getting stuff back online? Or that outages are geographically based? Who knows. There's still no update on the Playstation blog beyond the "hey, uh, we might be offline for a day or two" message from earlier today.

Sweet! I thought I'd double check just in case and yep, I am able to watch stuff again. Bizarre. Last time I tried it was only able to buffer about 1/4 of anything I tried before it hung.

I doubt Sony will offer anything more than an apology to those without PSN+, using the excuse that you lost nothing as the service is free.

I feel sorry for all those PS3 Portal 2 users who want to play co-op the same week the game was released.

Hell I can't play co-op with a friend of mine today because he is on the PS3. (I'm on PC. Shit is SMART!)

That's a different issue. Amazon's web services on the east coast have had problems since last night. GB, Reddit, Quora, lots of sites are affected.

I don't have access to my PS3 this week anyhow, so all I want to say is that I can't wait to see Tom's comments on Arcana Heart. That is all!

I can't tell when PSN is working or not usually anyway. The wireless connection isn't flaky but some days it just won't connect, and i can't determine if it's a wireless router setting issue or a PSN issue.

Easy. Run a connection test under Network Settings in the XMB.

If Obtaining IP and Internet Connection SUCCEED and PlayStation Network FAILS it's probably the PSN.

Going wired seemed to fix most of my problems with psn being made out of 100% shit.

Same here. Powerline Networking has pretty much solved all of my networking issues. It's still slow to update, but consistent now. Not now, of course, since PSN has decided to be all that it can be in terms of shenanigans.

I'll also add that my ps3 is currently 2 inches from my wireless router and i use other computers/devices with the router, so it is not a router problem for me almost certainly.

The ps3's wireless just sucks and makes an already so-so online service even worse.
