Easy way to search my old Facebook updates?

This seems like it should be simple, or at least something I should be able to google for myself, but I can't seem to get anything other than the hundreds of articles telling me all about the privacy issues of other people searching my updates.

I'm just trying to track down a link I posted on Facebook sometime in the last six months to some site with a bunch of cover songs. This should be easy, right?

Just go to your Profile and hit "Older Posts" a pile of times. Unless you're one of those people who uses Facebook as an OCD outlet, it shouldn't take very long.

Well... no this still sucks. Facebook has been around for a long time now. You don't have to be OCD for this method to take really really long.

That shows everything you've ever done and also everything anyone else has ever posted on your wall. So for most people theres just shitloads of stuff and finding something 6 months back will be impossible.

Cry me a river. As long as you have a decent connection, it might take 15 minutes. If that's too long for you, you should be sentenced to eight hours of filing paperwork in an office that doesn't use computers.

Go to account settings. Export your entire facebook history. That will give you a single HTML page with all your updates on it, and is trivial to search.

What chequers said. I've used it for that purpose. Might take an hour or so before you get the download link though - at least that's how long it took in my case.

Now that's a great solution. I never knew about that.

"Download your Information" in account settings gets an email sent to you and after verifying you are who you are provides you with a complete history of everything you've done.
