What kind of card is in your work laptop? Different brands sometimes require a wee bit of tweakin'.

I have a Linksys 2.4gz wireless router and also a newer Linksys wireless card. Both have worked flawlessly. But now I'm trying to put my work laptop on the wireless network, and I'm having a problem.
The work laptop can see the internet and connect to the remote VPN server at work while wired into the wireless router.
The work laptop can see the internet just fine with the wireless card, but cannot connect to the remote VPN server at work. I'm guessing that this is probably just a setting on my router someplace that I need to swap, but it beats me what that setting might be.
Any ideas, oh wise hardware types?

I'm using a linksys 2.4 ghz card, and a linksys 2.4 ghz wireless router. I just swapped the card from my home machine to my work machine, and installed all the driver.
It can get to the net fine, just can't connect to this secure vpn connection. Using the same router and a wired connection, I connect to the secure site fine. It seems like it must be something with the wireless settings on the router, but so far I haven't had any luck figuring out what.
Hmmm. Are you using a WEP key? If not, might it be possible that connecting to a VPN would require it?
No, I checked that. It's very mysterious, this. I'm thinking it has to be a router or card setting, since the hard-wired card works fine.Originally Posted by Saxman_72
