Yeah, the pinnacle of isometric action games wrapped in pseudo-RPG clothing. I bet you like D-Generation, too :)

Because he couldn't possibly mean THE Baldur's Gate.

    No, he couldn't.

BG1 wasn't everyone's cup of tea and had it's flaws but to sum it up as a "bad rpg" is "dis" service.

I think he was saying The Summoning is better than both Summoners:

In my book: Baldur's Gate 2 > BG Dark Alliance games > Baldur's Gate 1

The best thing about BG1 was the fantastic soundtrack.

That game was great. Loved the magic system.

Clearly with the retirement of Dave Long, the bargain thread thread-cop position is vacant.

Would you guys mind knocking off the general discussion about games and stick to the bargaining? There are infinite other threads for discussions of RPGs, whether or not a rig is too expensive just to play silly games, and the like. This is our one and only place for knowing when mediocre games that we wouldn't have bought for an MSRP of $5.00 in the first place are suddenly worth buying because they've been knocked down from $20.00 to $5.00!

Don't forget (relatively) poor people who can mostly just afford the good games when they come down in price! ;)

Dave Long allowed game discussion. The game is not a bargain at any price (even free) if it's not worth playing. I think discussion of games in the sense of "is this worth $x? belong here and have a lot of value. And in fact is why I still follow this thread instead of going to the link places.

Sometimes people would get into flame wars about games and that was an issue. Also in depth discussion of a game would be out of place, but that doesn't happen much.

Frontlines: Fuel of War (what a great title) $5 on Steam... Anyone want to give a threadsafe opinion on that one for SP? Did they do Homefront as well?

I think they did Homefront. Apparently the multiplayer is nonexistent.

Frontlines and Homefront are from the same studio. Honestly, Bad Company 2 does much of what Frontlines does, has better single player, and sublime multiplayer. You're better off saving your $5. Frontlines' single player is okay, but nothing special, and no one is playing multiplayer anymore.

I loved it on the Xbox. For $5 you can't go wrong with Frontlines.

Rift digital version is on sale for 50% off direct from Trion. All SKUs, so $19.99 for the regular edition, and $24.99 for the digital collector's edition.

I finally installed Mass Effect 2 after taking a few years to finish the original and I was pleasantly surprised to note that not only does it look a lot better than the original, it runs a lot smoother too!

    Why?
I enjoyed BC2's single player quite some.
Been a while but I still remember the mission where you have to escape a town that is shelled by your own army (friendly fire) and the bantering between the team members was pretty funny, too (some of that stuff is on YouTube) especially the dialogue between the "hippy" chopper pilot and your men and the "Dallas Cowboys (cheerleaders)" parts.

For the board gamers among us, Amazon is currently selling Dungeons & Dragons: Conquest of Nerath Board Game for $50.39 plus free shipping. It's receiving very good reviews on BGG, as well as an enthusiastic thumbs up from Tom Vasel. Only 14 left in stock as of this posting!

    EDIT: Make that 13!

There is no reason for me to be excited about this as I cannot play anything else right now, have no excess funds and my old computer cannot play 50% of the titles on Steam and yet....

I saw that image on the Steam forums too. I have no idea what it's supposed to be symbolizing. 1 hour, 42 minutes until summer sale?

Damn you! On the day the Steam sale starts you have to put this temptation my way! And then include a countdown of how many are left? That's just cruel.

    Bought.
