I still play on PC, username cliffksi, obviously, feel free to add me. I play fairly random servers, ideally maps without helicopters.
After reading about BF3, I have a hankering for some BC2. But I wanna either play with friends or on a good teamplay server. If you're still playing, friend me!
If you have good server recommendations, leave them here. I looked for Tactical Gamer servers like I used to enjoy in BF2, but they seem not to exist.
Thanks!

I still play on occasion under the name YUKI.N>, mostly on weekends. Haven't been able to track down a good server for teamplay and coordination, though. As a result, I tend to just run around the map taking points by myself and trying other ridiculous things for the sheer humor value of it. A more slow-paced and delicate playstyle would certainly be welcome.
Heck yes, still playing!
I usually just look for hardcore conquest and rush servers, and select the one with lowest ping. Some are more prone to hackers than others, I should probably write them down to keep track, since the server browser doesn't have a blacklist feature AFAIK.
Anyway, my BC2 nic is SuperiorSpecimen
I haven't played in a long time, mostly because my PC is dead. But I love these guys in general:
http://www.teamplayergaming.com/cont...e-servers.html
I didn't get why people liked Counter-Strike until I played on what was then a "Texas Teamplayers" server.
I play mostly the NAM expansion, but I still lurk in the core game once a week too.
Gourmand and I will be playing tomorrow afternoon. Friend us and join us!
We will post information about a vent server if we get one.
I've finally gotten into this the past few days and I'm having a blast.
Friend me up as well if you're looking to play.
Is this game (PC version) noob friendly? I tried playing for the first time today and kept getting my ass handed to me. Seems like everyone is a sniper and I die before I even raise my sights.
Maybe I missed the boat.
Oh it happened a lot to me when i started playing, it gets better.
Yeah, your first few rounds will suck. A few general things I've learned from my first few days playing:
* Stick with your squad or other teammates
* Spot bad guys always (aim and hit Q), anyone on your team with line of site will take a shot at them. Even if someone else kills them you'll still get 10-20 points. I almost always spot before I shoot unless I'm right on top of them.
* Grab dead players' gear (Default: E). You'll get to play with other guns and goodies before you've unlocked them. This is great for dead friendly medics, grab their kit and use the revive paddles on 'em (if they have them), you'll get 80 points and sweet gear.
Got into this again after how horrible Brink was. Trying to solve my friend's problem where she keeps getting disconnected from the game servers 3-5 minutes after connecting.
Same router as a few months ago, no firewall--only change is that she's reinstalled Windows. (7 32-bit)
This is driving her crazy and I can't figure out what's causing it either.
Friend has the same problem.
When I was in Brisbane I had to change some settings on my NIC to be able to play BFBC2, (and some other settings to play WoW).
Used TCPOptimizer (from speedguide.net) to configure the settings.
I can no longer remember what the settings were, but currently in TCPOptimizer it has "ECN Capability Enabled", "Windows Scaling Heuristics Disabled" and Checksum Offloading Enabled:0.
The so called 'gaming tweaks' under Advanced settings are all set to default n/a.
I'm pretty sure my BF connection issues were related to ECN, but its been a while since I trixxed with it.
seing as this thread is rebumped anyway, anyone who wants a PC team-playing buddy who plays at random times (from UK) add cliffski :D
I suck, but I'm a team player :D
Not PB-related. She has manually run PBSETUP and updated.
Ok, I ask because I know a lot of people have issues with PB from time to time, even when updated.
btw Cliffski - I will add you as friend when I next logon - Denmark here, so should be possible to meet up eventually :-) I'm Razgondk there.
Friendly fire and taking less than a full magazine clip to kill someone isnt terrible - its a lot more fun!
I wish the games didn't have that short a respawn time, since people treat it like a COD game.
It should be SLOWER DAMMIT....
or I'm just getting old
I wanted to brush up on my mouse/keyboard skills (I played a ton of BFBC2 on 360) to get ready for BF3.
Sweet biscuits I suck. Its also a slog using the starting guns, I'm trying to level a medic and the iron sights obscure the screen so much it is just spray and pray.
Plus, I keep getting booted - sounds like some of the same issues further up the thread.
Anyway, I'll be racking up the worst k/d ratio in the history of man this weekend. I'm playing as Tofu King
I'd recommend trying to update Punkbuster. Find their PBSetup program and run it, then have it update BC2 with the latest version and see if that solves the booting problem.
Also, as a medic, try using the Type 88 LMG once you unlock it. If you fire 1-2 shot bursts with it, it's outrageously accurate, it has decent sights, and it also gives you a massive 200 bullet magazine so reloading is basically a nonissue and you have the capacity to spray and pray at close range if absolutely necessary. It's my favorite of the early MG unlocks you can get, and you don't really need any perks to make it an absolute killing machine.
i'm almost rank 30 with 110 hours played with a k/d ratio of 0.51.
PB isn't the culprit for my friend in this case. we've tried updating it as recent as last night.

I actually uninstalled the game due to it being far too awesome and taking up too much of my time.
I haven't played on any hardcore servers but have found combat in general to be quick, engaging and refreshing. I'm guessing that hardcore servers just mean that you can die more quickly, but since you can kill someone with just a few shots of a handgun on a normal server I'm not sure how if hardcore would be more fun or just frustrating.
I've not had an issue with being booted and as far as I can tell I've never seen any cheating.
I think the worst part of the whole game is the knife combat as it can feel really unresponsive at times.
Also, recon class ftw. Nothing quite as satisfying as throwing two charges of C4 on an enemy tank and blowing it up on my very first game :D
