Now i am encountering a few more problems. Like a cutscene with the background totally glitched (it was almost psychedelic) and the so very weird checkpoint system put me in really bad situations a pair of times.
The designers also made the mistake of putting a a set of linear parts one after the other. Sewers, town hall, sewers, supermarket, sewers, town hall, sewers again. Ugh, so much time in the sewers. Slashing zombies in a dark and dreary sewer is cool, but they over used it, and in quick succession.
The CPU speed of my above C2Duo CPU is 3.0 GHz (it's an E8400).
I think you will move the game fine, Papageno.
Yeah, it was 5 a.m. before I realized that maybe I should probably get some sleep!
Honestly, I thought DX:HR was going to be my GOTY until Skyrim came out, but this game is quickly becoming my new favorite. I want to get GoW3 on Saturday, but I might hold off like a week just to get some more time in with this.
Thanks for the replies. Now I go to buy it on Amazon to take advantage of the special, and I'm seeing that it's "currently unavailable." WTF? Did they run out of serial numbers or something?
Yeah most places are out of keys, and retail stores are out of boxed copies , the game went all viral and everyone wanted a copy after the few of us who pre-ordered spoke of our epic travels , along with the pretty decent reviews.
I just got the lighthouse working, fun times. Game says I am 8% done, around 3 hours in. :)
I am playing as the knife lady, with XP notification and enemy health bars off.
Analog control mode with mouse and keyboard!

2. save this as inputs.scr to C:\Users\<username>\Documents\DeadIsland\out\Data\ inputs.scr
3. in Options > Controls
- Configuration - Xbox 360 Controller
- Fight Type - Analog
In inputs.scr if you replace the x360 default controls with the keyboard default controls, save it, and then play the game on mouse and keyboard with the controls set to x360(set to analog), then you can use the analog attacking(Hold Right Click to go into combat mode, move mouse opposite direction that you want to swing to charge the attack, and then swing in that direction that you were charging opposite of. Hold left click and then hit right click to throw things.)
I like it a lot more.
I assume that it works because there's not any option to use analog controls with keyboard and mouse, although in the options menu there is a greyed-out option for it.
I'm willing to bet that somewhere there is a file that allows that to be changed. Could you guys help find that? Using x360 does work fine, but controls can't be changed in-game and quests can't be accepted(In fact, you have to exit the game when you accidentally get an option to accept a quest with your controls set to x360, since you don't have the "A" button to accept the quest with).
Played this a bit last night, appears buggy as hell on pc. Voices are all scratchy, people jump in and out of my game without me asking, and other weirdness. Seems cool I guess but hasn't hooked me yet, and I hate the light blooms...
And be sure you haven't raised up the default gamma. Being honest, i don't see a very strong bloom (for being in a paradisaical island).
I switched to the Xbox controller and am loving it! It's easy enough to use and the menus are way easier to navigate. I've also got XP/damage and health bars off. It's more immersive and less 'gamey'. Yay!
I'm having trouble sweeping the Z's legs out from under them, something I want to do a lot. Is that possible? I had a great time chipping away at a Brute's (Thug's?) legs while he impotently swung at me.
Are any of you guys playing with the v-sync/blur/FOV edits online? I ask because I can't get any confirmation about what the hell will cause a VAC ban or not and I don't want to waste my money on this damn game.
I'm using the fov tweak and appear to be fine...
OMG, the final phase of the 'activate the speakers' quest, it makes you go to
Spoiler: quest
Also i have a sick Venom katana. It degrades a bit more faster than i would like, but what you gonna do.
The game has definitely gone viral. Every single one of my clan mates has the game now.
What is the advantage of using analog controls with mouse and keyboard? I haven't noticed any issues with the existing controls.
On the 360 version, can 2 players play split screen?
No.
And see Prankster, I knew there would be Katanas eventually!
I'd like it if cash would automatically get picked up when I open a container that has it, rather than having to click to open the container, then click to pick up the money. There's no scenario where I *wouldn't* take the money, and it's lying all over the place, which I think creates a pacing problem.
