    Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball (18 teams)

    Hey all,

    Just putting a note out there for this years version of the 18-team rotisserie league I run every season. If you'd like to join, the league is "I'm Chuck James Pitch!" #3859 with the password orioles. There's some regulars that play, but the rest of the league is made up of random people usually. Obviously, it's a deep league so you'll want to do some reading up before drafting, which is a month and a half away.

    Hope a few of you feel like playing!

    EDIT: Team list:

    ravenight = The Nigh Mets
    wolfbane = ?
    philosophist = ?
    Thongsy = Baka Survivors
    Rowe33 = ?
    RDansky = ?
    grahamiam = Hanover Gramcrackers
    yamo yamo = K Dogs

    I'm in, I've been looking for a deep league - sounds like fun!

    EDIT: Team name "The Nigh Mets" for reference.

    Hey all. Just wanted to cycle this up and see if anyone else was interested in joining. I've opened up to the public at this point as well.

    I joined. I've played in a qt3 league for last 3 years (won it 2 years ago), but completely blew it off last year. Would like to get more serious again.

    Looking forward to it.

    Eh, I joined this one too. Let's see if I can suck in both leagues.

    Again, if you're not familiar with the size of a league, please please ask any questions you have. When you're in round 15 looking at a bunch of scrubs and no names, it starts to get a little dicey.

    I'll join if, and only if, you need to balance any divisions. Otherwise, one is enough, given the amount I watch baseball.

    Very cool. Nice to see so many Qt3 folks join up in what is a challenging league. Do your homework!

    Just a reminder that the draft for this league will be happening Saturday at 3PM EST. Feel free to float out any questions.

    Also, if you all know anyone that is interested in playing, feel free. The closer to 18 teams we get, the better.

    I'd like to get in, but can't seem to find your league using the number and password on yahoo fantasy baseball.

    It's been drafted and set as of Saturday. Just trying to figure out which Qt3 people are which teams.

    How'd everyone think the draft went? This league is so ridiculously deep, I have no idea if my team is worth anything. I'm pretty happy to have King Felix, though, picking 15th.

    I don't know what to think of the draft. It went on so long and there is nobody really left on waivers unless somebody gets hurt. Actually it would probably take two or three players to get hurt before somebody on waiver is starting. I'm just happy I got a few Giants on my team.

    Yeah, well, there are 252 starting batters in the league, and only about 240 in major league baseball, not counting platoons. It's a little better for pitchers, though, even if you assume you only want the top 3-4 starters and top 2 relievers per major league team (on average), that gives about 165 pitchers to choose from for 162 slots.

    It will be interesting to see how it plays out as things change during the season and players win or lose starting roles or rookies get called up.

    I'm actually much more pleased with my 18 team draft than I was with my 12 team draft in another league. I feel I got some really good sleepers in Gordon, Kia'Aihune, and Westbrook. Like my injury-risk picks of Helton, Hardy, Chipper. I'm pretty pleased except for Nady sitting out there, but at least he is being given the chance to start, so we'll see how it goes.

    Defending my trade

    I send:

    P Alexi Ogando
    P Jaime Garcia

    For:

    OF Chris Coghlan
    P Chris Perez

    I am way over my innings pace so i need to dump starters
    I need OF and I need a closer.

    I think this trade adresses my weaknesses and i have a ton of quality starting pitching.

    For what it matters, I defended the trade as well. I don't see a major issue with it.

    Assuming the standings remain as they are, my victory this year will be twice as sweet as I came back to overthrow the Casper Turds who were leading the league by 20 or so points and happen to be run by my brother in Wyoming.

    My team started improving once I stopped making daily lineup changes in the last month or two. My team was cripple from the start with Kendrys Morales, then Sandoval, Posey, Bailey being on the DL. Not to mention Hanley sucking it up this year as the #1 overall pick.
