    Online pet pharmacies?

Guys - I have two big dogs on Rimadyl, and it's costing me about $100 a month to buy from the vet, opposed to about $66 if I can get them online.

Have any of you dealt with online pet pharmacies? Any experiences you can share?

Our vets have claimed that you can't trust online pharmacies because they sometimes replace expensive meds with worthless junk or have terrible quality control because of shady suppliers. Since vets may not be the most trustworthy source for such info (in the pockets of US pharmaceutical manufacturers, etc.), I did some research into the topic myself.

This FDA website has excellent advice. All of it's useful, but the following quote has helped us on many occasions:

If you find a cheaper medicine online, ask your veterinarian to consider matching the price. Many veterinarians are willing to competitively charge based on the online price you’ve found (and can show proof of).

I've bought flea medication from 1800PetMeds before and it was fine but that's obviously not in the same ballpark. An online friend who works as a vet assistant actually recommended them for what it's worth. Be prepared for an endless bombardment of coupons and % off sales though.

I've never had a problem with 1800PetMeds either, we regularly purchased flea drops and have bought antibiotics and painkillers from them in the past for our cats.

Also, have you talked to your vet (or researched online) about Novox, the generic equivalent to Rymadyl? You should be able to save money on that with or without taking your prescription online.

Any idea on where I can get prescribed pet food? The pet food on 1800petmeds.com is not prescribed.
